Oh my god I have so much to say. I literally sang this song because I was obsessed with the background story of it and fell into a deep rabbit hole of old japanese mystery novels. So if you’re as interested in this PV as much as me, don’t worry, I got you!! 

So this PV is based upon a short story titled “Nandemo nai/Of no concern”, one of the three stories included in “Shoujo Jigoku/Girl’s Hell” by the author Yumeno Kyuusaku in the 1930s. The story begins with the su*cide note from a young nurse named Himekusa Yuriko who is beautiful and beloved by all until her lies catch up to her as she is found to have fabricacted her past. Police get involved, there’s accusations of communism and seduction, but they ultimately let her go as they conclude that Yuriko…just loved lying. She loved creating stories and felt it made life less boring. And because of her compulsion, it leaves the reader with a mystery. Was her note a lie as well?

Sadly, this story was never officially translated into English but parts of it exist online, including someone’s doctorate thesis which examines all of Yumeno’s stories in depth. Yeah I know that Len’s version is a lot more popular but this one had Akiakane’s illustrated video synced to it so I regret nothing. And I also had a really hard time trying to fit the lyrics into the chorus in a not-awkward-and-totally-singable way because idk those are some words with very few synonyms and weird stresses. Sitting in a public library going through all the Len videos was a fun experience too, I tried to hide my screen because obviously it’s hard to explain why this banana shota is in leather and I’d like to not be judged for his clothing choices.

I sing this song in my car a lot. I’ve probably been doing it for almost a decade now, which makes me feel old haha. But kemu is timeless to me nevertheless and I’ll always listen to his songs at unreasonably loud levels. Of course, Jinsei Reset Button has always been one of my favorites because I’m a basic girl at heart but also because I think it’s always really summed up everything great about kemu songs. The bright, strong synths and powerful melodies that always feel like a “shock” to me. That’s a weird way to describe it but yeah its electric and I love it. So enough of my rambling, here’s another throwback lol.

So this song is the theme for this year’s Magical Mirai which also happens to be Kagamine Rin and Len’s 10th anniversary! And they made the right choice getting Giga-P to compose the song, he truly is the queen of sassy bops. It’s been so long since he did vocaloid and he absolutely KILLED it with this one! Now if he could just release another album, I’d probably go ahead and retire to my coffin and wait for jesus to take me tbh.

 But anyway, I really wish I could’ve done this song more justice. I feel like even if I gave my blood for it, there’s no way I could reach Giga level. And yes, I did a self-duet because I hate myself and love recording 500 harmonies and ad-libs alone. So this cover barely made it out alive, I’m sure there are more skilled people that will have an easier time with this. Until then, here’s my attempt!

I'm so glad I finally got to do this song. I was gonna rush to get it done last week but the I kept on rewriting the lyrics so I wouldn't stumble through them...this song is so fast. Eve is probably one of my favorite composers/artists now if that wasn't apparent before lol. Him and Numa just know how to crank these really compositionally interesting songs out. I wish they'd put out an off vocal for Kaishingeki because that one is so good aaah (fyi you can listen to it on Spotify). Anyway, about Tokyo Ghetto, I've been in love with it since it came out but knew how hard Dramaturgy was already so hesitated taking it on lightly. A lot of the rhythm for the song depends on the lyrics and Eve tends to write really abstract lines, so I did the best I could to balance those things(?). Also, Waboku is still such a master at PVs, if you like this one then Oki ni Mesu mama is definitely up your alley. 

Also, also, there's a cameo of other Eve songs in the beginning.

Well, this started out as a request but it turned quickly into self satisfaction.  All I’ve done is read romance webtoons over holiday vacation (a lot of Pixel of Life) and I think it ended up affecting the lyrics I wrote. Especially after I found peony’s PV for a CeVIO cover, I couldn’t help but get caught up in the emotions of it. Which is funny because I initially didn’t really care for this song too much, in fact, I liked Paper Flower better on Kenshi’s album. But now I’m attached to Lemon as well thanks to all the webtoons I read while working on this. 

I wish I could’ve done better but ah well, it be like that sometimes. Plus, there are already so many great covers of this, I don’t think you guys are really clamoring for another lol. You should really hear Chalili’s and Mafumafu’s for sure!

I think I started losing my mind somewhere inside covering this one, or maybe its the fact that I'm writing this at 7am and haven't slept still. Who knows? What I do know is that this is like way overdue and I still can't believe I haven't done more Pinocchio-P songs. What was weirder was that I was working on it this week and got a notification while lying on the ground at 6am (longer story) to find Pino-san was doing a livestream on youtube to promote his album. He was even trying to learn English which was so wholesome and trying to understand what a fan meant when they called his song a "bop". I almost lost it. Honestly 10/10 livestream. Ahh, where was I, oh right the song-- I'm not even sure how coherent

Ya’ll I did so much the past 4 weeks I can barely remember it all. I worked staff at ECCC in Seattle and had to learn how to be good with kids (still don’t know how). Then flew to Japan and stayed in Tokyo for 2 weeks where I got to see a bunch of stuff like an anime convention at Tokyo Big Sight, a random Vocaloid pop up shop in Ginza, and One Piece at Tokyo Tower ofc. Then flew to Hawaii for Kawaii Con where I got to meet a bunch of really welcoming supporters, even received some stuff from them! And a lot in between all that but you guys get the gist, I’ve been busy. 

Really wanted to post this while I was away, but I never got any down time. Now I’m finally home again and doing what I’m most comfortable doing— working! ….yeah I know, I’ll fix my life soon but for now here’s a cover of a banger.

I’m so glad I finally got to cover this song. I’ve never gotten the chance to cover Kamiyama/ewe/Yukisan’s vocaloid songs before, but this one seemed like one I could do. Plus, there’s something so hypnotising about the beat and the video art, I couldn’t ignore it. I’m glad to see them growing so much as an artist, I can’t wait to see what else they make in the future. Also, I apologize for the slowness of covers the past couple of months. I’ve been going through some tough stuff personally and medically and trying to work it out like an adult. Ok so it’s been a long time since I did an anime song but I really had to do this one. This is easily my favorite song by balloon and he even sings it as his alias Keina Suda which is such a milestone. A lot like how ewe is now branching out as Yoh Kamiyama? And then on top of all that, it’s the ending to Fire Force so I feel like there areso many reasons to cover it. Its really exciting to watch these songwriters really pave their own ways. Since it’s the spooky month, I figured I’d bring back an old favorite. I’m not sure why I used be obsessed with this video when I was younger but it was so eerie and sad. There were a lot of creepy vocaloid songs coming out around that time but this one was truly dark. A lot of credit obviously goes to kokuto_yu-ki who created this fan pv that just deepened the song’s lore- if that’s the right word? People even spread the rumor that the song was based on true events but of course those were discredited by the producer himself. I think the song really just captures your dark imagination and so it had to be done for Halloween!

As for the technical side, I don’t think I’ve ever suffered over every part of a cover quite like this. 
Like, I seriously had trouble with everything: the song, video, arrangement, key, mix, and translation.
And oh boy the off vocal, I have no words. 

I did my best y’all. I’m gonna lie down now.

Wow, it’s already the end of the year and the holidays are here! 
So why not a song about a very scary santa? Maybe Krampus is a better name for them.
Anyway, I feel like Soraru and Mafumafu really get me in the Xmas mood the best, they’re just so upbeat and fun.
This song has a dark twist though so don’t be fooled lol, it’s obvious that Mafumafu really likes Halloween. 
I mean, he even straight up does a bit of tsukkomi(?) where he’s like “Wait, aren’t you mixing up Halloween and Xmas?” to Soraru and I still laugh every time. Also, there was quite a bit of English in the original that I was able to keep and I did twist some of the translations to be a little more snarky since I wanted this to be a fun song. I finally sang something for myself after what feels like a long while now. I’d always meant to sing more niki songs especially since I’ve been a huge fan of cillia/kyaami since before I even began singing online. I’m glad I was able to do this one so many thanks to David and Rui Ruii for allowing me to borrow their work. Lots of things are changing for me and I’m trying to revaluate my motivations and future, so thank you for bearing with me. Anyway, I’ll be trying to get back into the swing of things again!

I never thought I’d finish this cover to be honest but I’m relieved I finally could. I’ve spent so much time staring hopelessly at this cover that I don’t have much to say except it really reflected a low point in this past year and I’m glad I’m actually in a position that I can say things have gotten better. Yup this is it. My favorite cover I’ve ever done. 
Ever since I heard this on a Soraru album, I’ve been in love. I wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to reach that level of “cool af” but this was my attempt. Kira mixed this a million years ago and I’m not sure how he did it but he deserves all the credit for making this amazing. Anyway, this is the last cover I’ve held in my vaults and I’m happy to see it go. Cheers to the end of 2020.
