Just a quick clip to see how this Nazgûl pickup handles drop A tuning. I probably could have used larger strings, but it held up pretty well. This is my RG271FX (mahogany body) into the Neural DSP Gojira plug-in. Don’t hate on my compressor settings, haha. I’m aware the kick and snare are a little peaky.

Seymour Duncan Nazgul 7-String Pickup

I received a brand new Ibanez M80M Meshuggah signature recently and decided to give it a testride. I strung it up with the same D'Addario .10-.74 set and tuned the guitar down to D# Standard. I usually tune F Standard on my 8s, but since this one has a longer scale of 29.4", I figured I'd give it a shot.

It actually doesn't sound much different to my 8s in F. The low string has a little more "dooowww", but it doesn't sound more dull or anything. The longer scale and the pickup placement seem to do the trick here, simple as that.

The guitar tone is coming out of a Kemper and I used two different profiles that I have been working with lately. They sound quite different, but I couldn't decide which one I liked better:

PART 1 AND 2 OF THE RIFF ARE EACH PROFILE INDIVIDUALLY, PART 3 IS BOTH PROFILES COMBINED, PANNED TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. 

However, the intention of the recording is to show how audible and clear the low D# sounds.
