Allow me to speak my Arab tongue
before they occupy my language as well.

before they colonise her memory as well.
I am an Arab woman of color.
and we come in all shades of anger.
All my grandfather ever wanted to do
was wake up at dawn and watch my grandmother kneel and pray
in a village hidden between Jaffa and Haifa
my mother was born under an olive tree
on a soil they say is no longer mine
but I will cross their barriers, their check points
their damn apartheid walls and return to my homeland
I am an Arab woman of colour and we come in all shades of anger.
And did you hear my sister screaming yesterday
as she gave birth at a check point
with Israeli soldiers looking between her legs
for their next demographic threat
called her baby girl “Janeen”.
And did you hear Amni Mona screaming
behind their prison bars as they teargassed her cell
“We’re returning to Palestine!”
I am an Arab woman of colour and we come in all shades of anger.
But you tell me, this womb inside me
will only bring you your next terrorist
beard wearing, gun waving, towelhead, sand nigger
You tell me, I send my children out to die
but those are your copters, your F16′s in our sky
And let’s talk about this terrorism business for a second
Wasn’t it the CIA that killed Allende and Lumumba
and who trained Osama in the first place
My grandparents didn’t run around like clowns
with the white capes and the white hoods on their heads lynching black people

Although it seems like a decade ago, the massive explosion that rocked Beirut happened only two months ago, and, as of today, the Lebanese people are still reeling. Many of the 300,000 people who lost their homes still find themselves homeless, and the government of Lebanon, embroiled in corruption, is unwilling or unable to step in to the degree their people need. Instead, it's been up to the Lebanese community to help themselves. Feedasoul Records, based in Byblos, Lebanon, has put together a 4 track EP to raise money to aid their fellow countryfolk in need. KARLITA delivers AMOR FABOLA - the sophomore 5 track extended player on clipp.art by the French artist. Throughout Amor Fabola, Karlita deepens into the sound she developed on her wonderful 2019 debut release Lazydayz, while exploring the more rounder elements of house  music. It’s a sound Karlita warms to and there is a clear affection for the transformative power of house that oozes and permeates from every fibre of the project. From the warbling intro, underwater vocals and distorted perc patterns of “I Can’t Wait” to the linear movement of “Body Language”, rough edges of “a tiger in the heart” and propulsive electro vibe of “Eternity”, Amor Fabola is music created from emotive energy, and pieced together from those elements occupying introspective dancefloor spaces. But at its centre this is a work of love. A love of house and the moments and freedoms that house music affords the listener. While the choir vocal pads of closing track “Unfaithful” echo stylistically the floating mantra of 10CC’s “I’m Not in Love”, the core of this material invites similar intimacy. AMOR FABOLA itself translates from the Latin “love story”, while Fabola also lays roots in “storytelling, tales, drama” and in French “Fabuler” can mean “invent” or “make up” or “fantasize”.  There is crossover in the word “fabricate”. While Amor also takes up in “infatuation, attachment, adoration”. And like anything created there is a process. As the listener we are invited to also make up our own story, as if to say we all have a choice in the things we love and hate. Locate the drama where we will. Piece it together. An artist also known for working through the medium of collage, Karlita thematically stitches together elements from what is known and beyond knowing. About house music. About the individual and their art. About the things we make up. In her own words “This album tends to retrace the process of a romance, good or bad, to each his own interpretation”.
