Subtempo Mix 012 - Ryan Griffin | ASIP

It's been a long time since I sat down and tried to compile a studio mix, which is bizarre for me as it's something that I thoroughly enjoy doing. Don't get me wrong, it can be massively frustrating at times. However when it all starts coming together it's very rewarding. I love the freedom it gives you to go wherever you want and to take as long as you want to get there. There's no pumped up blood thirsty crowd, foaming at the mouth waiting on the next big tune. Instead I can take my time with no restraints, to build something that flows well and if all goes to plan has a much more immersive feel to it. As much as I'd like to think most of my DJ sets are a well constructed journey with a start, peak and end it's always hard to nail that 'perfect flow' every time as you usually just feed off the crowds reactions and go wherever the night takes you.

As it had been quite a while (far too long!) since I last uploaded any music, I decided to make it an extended set. This not only gave me the opportunity to share more of my favourite tunes of late but as mentioned earlier it gave me a much larger scope of what I could play and where I could take it. I'm usually massively self critical of my sets/productions, hence why I am terrible at actually uploading them! But I've listened to this set 3 times now and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. It's finally May (the dark months are well and truly gone!) and thoughts have quickly turn towards the start of festival season. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in a field someday soon! Until then I hope you enjoy the music. x
