The Four Seasons mix series began in January 2020 as I rebooted the “RnBass” sound for a local cocktail lounge gig. While RnBass initially collated around my love of all things Alt R&B and Future Bass, at its heart the sound is less about a particular genre and more about a vibe - one that is danceable, catchy, moody, and a little bit sexy. The title of this mix is Natsu (trans. ‘Summer’), a season I associate with my hometown of Hawaii year-round. I originally thought this mix would be more “summery” sounding (think poolside/beach floaties), but I was listening to one of SoSuperSam’s 143 radio shows prior to set-listing and really loved the raw, live-energy feel I was getting from it. After being cooped up from pandemic the last year and a half, Sam’s set made me realize how much I’ve missed the atmosphere of bodies on a dance floor. And so this mix is less about summer vibes and more about genre-agnostic, bangers that I wanted to move my body to! I tried to tone down the Future Club hypey to keep things somewhat accessible, but I just prefer more experimental stuff above 125 BPM. Anyway, I hope to see you on a dance floor sometime after all this is over!

Jules Juke is an open format DJ known for playing in the space between R&B and House. In 2009, she debuted an electronic radio show on KUPS in Tacoma, WA helping the program cinch an MTVu Woodie Award for Best College Radio Station in the country. It was after an on-air interview with a professional DJ that she started applying herself more seriously to the craft of DJing. Jules’ love for weaving a diverse mosaic of genres got her “RnBass” mix featured on Earmilk’s Wobble Wednesday Mix of the Week in 2013. Under this “RnBass” umbrella, Jules Juke would continue honing her DJ style blending R&B, Pop, House, Future Beats, Kpop, Jazz-hop, Afrobeats & Baile Funk at The Dogwood Cocktail Cabin as a monthly resident from 2019-2022.
