Falling in love makes us vulnerable and if we aren't wise about who we choose to share and spend our time with, we then give them permission to take a piece of us. Spirit and ego go hand in hand. To know one you have to know the other. Life is about balance. I myself have been guilty about being way too spiritual and keeping the peace and love in exchange for a much needed ego boost. This song takes back confidence, sets boundaries and delivers self love with a vengeance.

Gold Medals

In her first solo, single debut, Jules Truly came to recognize her worth and took back her “Gold Medals” with affirmation; cutting away at all toxic energy that latched on in hopes for a piece of her magic. With her next single, “Make Love to Myself” set to release on August 15th, 2019 she understands that once you let go of what does not belong to you one must mentally and physically, nourish and heal the wounds, to like the phoenix revive and rise from the ashes.

“Make Love to Myself” adds fuel to the women’s empowerment movement of today’s society. It not only chants on the importance of self love and value, but it also does not shy away from adding a metaphoric, double meaning to the acceptance and pleasures of a woman making love to herself and in return gaining complete satisfaction.

Make Love To Myself

Born and raised in the Bronx, Jules found her love for music starting as a child performer with The Highbridge Voices Community Choir directed by Bruno Casolari.  This experience propelled her to performances on The David Letterman Show and an ensemble appearance with Celine Dion at Radio City Music Hall to name a few.  She then went on to appear as Young Nala in Broadway's Musical, The Lion King in its 2000-2001 season. In 2014 she placed as finalist at the Apollo Theater's Amateur Night.

As an adult she continues to polish her skills with renown vocal coach and mentor, Craig Derry. Aside from her solo pursuits Jules is currently, front-woman of her jazz band and NYC based band, Jules and The Jinks whom recently won AFROPUNK's Battle of The Bands and went on to play the main stage of AFROPUNK Brooklyn Festival. Her sound is jazz, funk, r&b, pop, rock, but most of all soulfully unique. Performing in the metropolitan area, highlight performances include: Mercury Lounge, Sony Hall, Minton's Playhouse, Rockwood Music Hall, Joe's Pub, Highline Ballroom, Manderley Bar at The McKittrich Hotel, Silvana, Shrine, Sofar Sounds, Treble Fridays, Piano's, Red Rooster, The Schomburg Museum, The Harlem Arts Festival in 2016, Afropunk Brooklyn Festival 2018 and The Wynwood Yard in Miami 2018.
