Today we present “Sense Withdrawals (6SISS Remix)” which puts a more menacing twist on the original and adds a seething industrial atmosphere. The rest of the release finds the trio in top form, playing off each other’s strengths and the Full Swap title  couldn’t be more appropriate as we see the artists mixing and matching to create an exceptional release that covers a wide array of sounds that work on many different levels.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Ōtone. “Slice” comes off the new split EP, Mechanical Gesture, out August 25th on Obscuur. Catartsis & Ōtone explore, both in their collaborative and respective work, a wide spectrum of electronic and electroacoustic music with the practices of field recording and attentive listening at the core of their creative process. Inspired by musique concrète and electroacoustic sonic manipulations, they combine and alter sounds from the real, from their surroundings and from found (mainly metallic) objects. Stemming from this approach, they engage in rhythmical and textural research to elaborate a — peculiar, acousmatic and almost tangible — percussive and club-oriented music. Made using field recordings from various sources, the main one being an industrial paper cutting machine, “Slice” is a pummeling rhythmic work that cuts deeper than it sounds.

After the huge success of Cora Novoa’s ‘The Hive’ single back in April, Citizen boss Vitalic now steps up to remix it under his Dima alias alongside Louisahhh!!!, Djedjotronic and Karabine. Vitalic is a French mainstay who has long been bringing techno and electro invention to labels and clubs around the world. His Dima alias dates back to the nineties but has been more recently revived to explore different techno styles. His fantastic remix of ‘Hey’ is an intense one that rolls back and forth on its heels, with busted sub bass and distorted kicks making for a big wall of techno sound. Louisahhh!!! has become one of techno’s chief practitioners with her dark sound influenced by a wide array of genres from EBM to wave. She runs the acclaimed RAAR label and here takes on ‘The Hive’ going for a visceral, pounding, mid-tempo track with machine-gun like stabs, dark vocals and haunting synths. Berlin based, Bordeaux born Djedjotronic has an arresting sound that is most at home on labels like Boysnoize Record. His version of ‘Hey’ gets you in a trance with its grubby, rave-y lead synth spraying about the mix while weighty drums stomp underneath. It’s strobe lit, full of shadows and is brilliant in its starkness. Last of all is label regular Karabine attacks the same original, slowing things to a monstrous and menacing crawl that is paranoid and predatory. Percolating drums and brain frying synths making it pure angst. These are high impact tracks that explore the darkest realms of techno.

Discast 33 is full of heavy artillery from the Cuban-Peruvian producer, DJ, and rave organizer Buzzi. This ingenious techno tool creator resides mainly in New York City's sacred electronic music underground. His high speed and distorted Schranz-like sound topped of by percussive touches and pummeling drums leave no room for compromise. All in all, a crazy 150 BPM bashing beats compilation to start the weekend in style.

Her playstyle ranges from fast-paced hard trance to heavy industrial sounds.

Today we are pleased to present Notes From A Pandemic, a new hardcover book written by August Skipper. Known for his production work with Operant and his solo project Agency, as well as being half of record label Instruments Of Discipline, he now delivers this great work of poems, prose and digital sketches. Notes seeks to document the psychic implosion surrounding the initial period of European quarantine. Taking the form of an abstract journal, a series of short poetry and prose evoke blurred vignettes of near-future conspiracy, personal reflection and weird transcendence; the pieces acting as a corrosive agent, exposing the hidden narrative that emerges between memory, media events and direct experience in the enforced isolation of a single room. 

The book will be released as a collaborative audiobook in the following months, the first track included with purchase of the book “The Skin Of Strangers” is a collaboration with Berlin-based artist Cunce (aka Keepsakes). Printed on 48 pages of 115gsm paper, A6 format, hardcover, bound in black cloth with the title and author debossed on the cover and spine.

The Skin Of Strangers - August Skipper W/ Cunce (Instruments of Discipline)

Glasgow born DJ and @ismusberlin co-owner @idote (aka Jonathan Carroll) is flying the flag for the Berlin crew. Since arriving in Germany in early 2016 his involvement has seen the growth of Ismus into one the German capital's iconic events and the launch of its own record label. 

With a keen interest in up and coming artists, Jonathan prides himself on providing talented newcomers a platform to release their music. His sets reflect this, featuring tracks from a flurry of brand new artists with fresh ideas. I.E’s sound mirrors that of Ismus, his DJ sets consisting of fast paced Techno, 90s Trance and Gabber. His production style takes influences from many different styles of trance and he has since begun work on his own imprint, Trance Cuts, set for a delayed launch in 2021 with his debut EP 'Keep Clear, I Am Trying'.
