Absys presents the long-awaited album from the Russian duo of Getz & Nuage “Anywhere Here”. Both producers have been actively involved- as a duo, as well as solo – on drum &amp; bass scene for some time and become known as not only prolific and versatile, but most of all, musically sensitive which gained them quite an acclaim among the deeper and softer d’n’b listeners. This sensitivity turned out to be far from accidental, what has been proven by many well-received releases of this duo. Following up, the guys decided to focus on new material, broader not only in terms of volume, but also of the themes covered. So, what to expect from “Anywhere Here” ?

The most appropriate – and at the same time the shortest – answer would be, simply, d’n’b – no more, no less, without pigeonholing or labeling. Yet, the musical content is quite futuristic and ‘modern’, but it’s still d’n’b. What’s certain is that this content will surely please those who are into minimal sounds (“Insomnia Shadows”, “Is the Way”), experiments (“Anytime”), melodies and soul (“Open Your Heart”), but also those who dig the less (“Gallactica”) and more (“Overcoder”) broken stuff. Add to this some deep and flowing rhythms, like “Morning Coffee”, and you have a recipe for a diverse, but at the same time coherent album, especially in terms of sound and themes.

 Despite the obvious musical diversity, the artists managed to maintain a consistent, distinctive futuristic style of their album, thus creating a perfect musical background for an exciting and simultaneously blissful journey through drum & bass Milky Way. Put on your spacesuit and hop on the board of Absys shuttle. Prepare for launch in 3… 2… 1…

Julia Marks is a multifaceted artist. Singer, song writer, lyricist and a party host, she continues to display a stunning musicality which has developed across a lifetime dedicated to her art. From her beginnings in the church choir at the tender age of seven, to her background in pop-jazz vocal art at the private Moscow studio of acting, her professional singing career is just as eclectic as her voice. To this day, she continues to study different vocal techniques within rock, jazz hip-hop and soul, always striving for her audience’s wow-reaction, especially whilst debuting her impressive vocal ranges. As well as featuring in many jazz and rock bands as a vocalist, becoming well-known on the major Russian city live circuit, she also took part in the infamous Russian Hip Hop battle InDaBattle during 2010, becoming the first female to reach the competition’s finale. However, despite her love for hip-hop she began to understand the necessity of diluting her vocal parts to develop more recitative. Julia Marks has been heavily present within the world of drum & bass. Having performed at some of the biggest drum & bass events in Russia – including World of Drum & Bass and Bassland, she’s also taken part on releases for labels such as Program, Lifted Music and Renegade Hardware and for artists such as Magnetude (where she is instated as their Exclusive Vocalist). Working with some of the most notorious players within the scene, she became a staple part of their back catalogues, further pushing herself across a wide variety of platforms and tastes. Her undeniable musicality was also clear on her offering for Dutch label Fokuz Recordings, proving yet again that her enviable vocal talent could fit a wide-ranging set of moulds. / /Julia Marks is a rarity; an artist who brings real meaning to the term and a name that will be on the lips of many in the near future.
