Modelled on a movement of the Danish composer Carl Neilsen's  4th Symphony this short piece unfolds in a series of terse dramatic interludes.

关云长　Guan Yun Chang（？～２２０）

Guan Yun Chang was a Chinese figure from about 1,800 years ago.

He is a popular figure in the Records of the Three Kingdoms, and for some reason is now worshipped as a god of commerce.

He remained loyal to Liu Bei, the founder of Shu Han, and was admired by many of his contemporaries, including Cao Cao, for his extraordinary bravery and sense of duty.

Among the military commanders appearing in "Epic of the Three Kingdoms," he was as popular as Zhuge Liang, and because he valued righteousness, later generations deified him and designated him as the Guan Di (Guan Emperor).

He is worshiped as the god of business in Chinatowns around the world. He is given special treatment in "Epic of the Three Kingdoms" and is described as Kwan Gong rather than Guan Yu.

It has been a minute since Jeff and I have done anything wacky (I'm in the process of moving and it is a time consuming thing) so I was really glad to see this one come together.  I had sent him the main riff that makes up the song and he colored it inside and outside the lines as only he can. The result is 'The Sea Shanty One".  Listen as the Siren’s song calls throughout the journey. We ain’t fall for it though
