Co-founder of Norway’s future-facing Ute crew, Ekkel (Teo Bachs) has a front-row seat in the cockpit on their psychedelic flavoured quest. From their woodland beginnings they’ve staked a claim to freedom through music and community, and expanded to include brick and mortar club nights and a self-titled label for the release of their magnetic and mysterious techno sounds. Forest-bath electronics that take stock of Scandinavia’s ambient tradition and cross-pollinate it with a measure of acid, trance and midnight sun. Teo’s own steadily rising number of productions (side project H25 included) has fleshed out Ute’s vision with a personal twist, and there’s another three scheduled for the fall. The past few years too have seen him hard at work exploring the possibilities of sound in a lonely cabin as part of Solar Alliance, collaborating with S.O.N.S on Korean label Junction Forest and producing many more unreleased tracks, some of which you’ll hear here first for a very special number. It’s a wormhole trip that marches headlong from the shadows, shimmering and physical beats that heave and swell, tribal breaks that flit from track to track and build a cathartic mood that harks back to Ute’s woodland roots. The 10 year celebration continues with a hybrid live recorded set from German dab hand Vril. Much of his work, like the metaphysical and culturally seminal substance from which he took the name, is heavy on duality, hard and gentle, vibrating with machinelike power and shot through with a raw and often tender emotion. It’s a calculation that has yielded some of the most unforgettable sounds of recent times, 2018’s heavy-hitting Anima Mundi or last year’s Animist have lost none of their soul-stirring resonance, and his purist techno reaches far beyond his published work. Live and in flow state, he carries just as strong a charge, a frothing, fulgurant techno that invokes awe and measures in colossal proportions. Tech House – often misunderstood and unfairly written off as commercial – takes centre stage in the upcoming Blitzcast by our good friend Sylwa, who has been influenced by its original, understated sound and approach, and now thrills with a soulful interpretation.

Blitzcast 028 comes courtesy of Sylwa – here’s what he has to share about the mix.

> This mix features tracks released exclusively between 1996 and 2005, with a strong leaning toward the sound pioneered by early UK tech house figures like Terry Francis, Eddie Richards, and the circle surrounding London’s Fabric club and Swag Records.
I aimed to create an obscure, moody atmosphere with long blends, moving through stripped-back, loop-heavy cuts, dubby stabs, and acid lines—gradually brightening into more melody-driven tracks toward the end. You’ll hear some crackles and slight mixing imperfections; I guess it's the unavoidable nature of mixing with vinyl. <
