It's almost hard to believe that we're in lockdown again. Although times are more difficult than ever great moments with (new)friends & family, music and positive vibes is the thing that keeps me going. Recording this set made me instant smile and shifted my thoughts to beautiful memories 2021 like Kamiwaza, Chateau, Garbicz, Planet C and Animatie Weekend. Wir freuen uns sehr, die Münchner DJane Stefanie Raschke in unserer Podcast-Reihe aufnehmen zu dürfen. Ob Bahnwärter Thiel, Rote Sonne oder als Resident im prestigeträchtigen Harry Klein - Stefanie ist nicht mehr aus der Münchner Club Szene wegzudenken und hier definitiv angekommen.
Für uns hat die Wahlmünchnerin ein Set voller Energie zusammengestellt - genauso wie wir sie im Club lieben. 

Natürlich haben wir ein kurzes Interview mit Stefanie geführt:

1.Wie und wann bist du zur Elektronischen Musik gekommen?

Mit etwa 16 Jahren habe ich damals angefangen Artists wie Justice, Bloody Beetroots, Boys Noize zu hören und bin seitdem nicht mehr von elektronischer Musik weg gekommen.

2.Welche Musikalischen Momente sind dir besonders in Erinnerung geblieben?

Da gibt es einige, zuletzt das "Komm schon Alter" Showcase auf dem Amsterdam Dance Event mit vielen meiner Lieblingsartists wie u.a. D-Nox & Beckers, Solee, Alex Niggemann, Hunter/Game.

3.Wo konnte man dich bisher antreffen?

Überall dort wo es gute Musik gibt 😉

4. Welche Zukunftspläne hast du?

Planen kann man das ja nicht wirklich, aber ich hoffe natürlich, dass es weiterhin mit der Musik gut läuft und bergauf geht und die Leute Spaß an meiner Musik haben.

1. Why did you choose to become an artist?
 
“Actually, I didn’t choose it. I made some music, had some success with it, found a good booking agency and had the opportunity to see a lot of beautiful places, where I played music in front of great people.”
 
2. What do you do to get into a creative state?
 
“As with a lot of artists, everyone has their own way of being the most creative. I made the experience that I need to have a free mind without any problems in my head to be creative and productive.”
 
3. What do you love most about being an artist?
 
“I don’t enjoy traveling too much, but LOVE to arrive, stay and play! Sometimes I have a hard time to produce music, because I’m a perfectionist and it cracks me up to find the right sound for what is in my head. I LOVE the moment I finish and release a track.”
 
4.  What makes you laugh?
 
“My dog ‘Busa’ and sitcoms like Brooklyn 99, Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother.”
 
5. You in 11 years?
 
“A warm place, a beach and a cold drink for the rest of my life.”

Based in the beautiful city of Zürich / Switzerland and with strong roots in Italy Vanessa Spolidoro, better known to friends and followers of electronic club music under her artistic nom de guerre Vanita, has come a long way since she appeared on the scene back in 2009.

Inspired by an ever growing love for House and Techno music throughout her teenage years and the vast variety of unheard artificial sounds created with the help of synthesizers, both analogue and digital, Vanita took to DJ'ing and played her first ever club set at the tender age of 19 before she started to become involved in music production in 2010, first working with several friends before embarking on a solo tip to sharpen and refine her studio skills over the years to come.

Gaining notoriety in Zürich and beyond Vanita slowly, yet constantly built her reputation as an aspiring DJ on the rise, playing more and more club nights and finally secured a resident spot at the infamous Hive Club in her hometown in 2014, a first breakthrough point in her career as this residency meant a regular presence in one of the hotspots of Switzerland's club scene.

Parallel, endless hours spent in the studio turned out to be fruitful as well, leading to releases on several smaller labels before imprints like Draft Label and Einmusika offspring EIN2 picked up on Vanita's tunes for singles in 2015 and 2017 respectively before her „Awareness EP“ was signed to Berlin's Katermukke-imprint in 2018, another step that took Vanita to a next level.

With her tracks gaining recognition on an international level and a steady public exposure through the Hive Club residency where she continously plays alongside globally renowned artists it's no wonder that Vanita soon entered the league of globetrotting DJ's herself. To this date she played in neabry countries like Germany and the Netherlands but also took off on a long distance to elevate crowds in Thailand, South Africa, Israel and the United States with energetic sets and a captivating stage presence.

Whilst keeping with an ever busy schedule and growing air mileage in 2019 Vanita has been busy in the studio and recently released her „Rain EP“ on Hive Audio, an overdue fortification of her long standing relationship with Switzerland's busiest club meets label business.

With more releases lined up for the near future and more international bookings to come Vanita is defo on one of the names to watch out for as her career hasn't even come close to a possible peak yet.

Riding in with the power to deliver sunshine to world’s rainiest open-air events, Monkey Safari brings rays of light to whatever dance floors they cast their shimmering spell on.

2015 saw the brothers swinging to new trees, retiring their previous labels to focus on their new label 'Hommage.' It was the year of transformation for the German producers, developing and tailoring a sound suited perfectly for the unique club nuances while still keeping the core elements of melodic chords and grooves synonymous with the duos productions. 2015 unveiled Monkey Safari’s remix for Marc Houle’s “Pepper” on Richie Hawtin’s label Minus and their hugely successful “Cranes” and “Walls“ EPs that presented opportunities for Monkey Safari to work with some exciting musicians, such as Wolf + Lamb and Kölsch, techno heavy weights Guy Gerber and Josh Wink, as well as one of dance music’s most iconic producers, Moby.

2016 followed in a similar fashion with a series of EPs and remixes released throughout the year showcasing the developed and matured sound apparent in the brothers' latest movements. At the start of the year, Monkey Safari’s remix for Moby & The Void Pacific Choir was the pick of the bunch, returning the favor after Moby’s successful rework of the duo’s track “Walls” last year. Their first EP of 2016, “On”, featured remixes from Techno legend Paco Osuna alongside French producer Chloé, followed by a second EP in June, “Bernstein”, with remixes by John Digweed & Nick Muir and Spanish DJ and producer UNER. August saw the release of their most recent 4- track EP, “Boris”, with remixes by Tel Aviv-based producer Guy Mantzur and Brazilian producer Victor Ruiz, reaching Beatport’s Tech House Top 10. After the successful “Woo” and “Woo Remixes” EPs, Monkey Safari were able to sign amazing Blond:ish, legendary John Tajada, and newcomer Marino Canal for a four track EP on their Hommage imprint.

The duo’s efforts in the studio have transcended to their DJ sets with stand out shows at Time Warp USA & Germany. Summer 2016 saw the brothers testing their evolving sound once again to new crowds with a slot at Awakenings Festival as the stand out attraction. On top of a heavy touring schedule at world renowned clubs and headlining slots at festivals, the duo rekindle their love for party promotion since their tender years in their hometown of Halle, Germany, where they own the infamous and recently remodeled “Charles Bronson” club.

2017 has been yet another impressive year for the duo to with releases on the likes of UNER’s Solar Distance and their own Hommage imprint. Their most recent release ‘Oxy’ featured as part of John Digweed’s ‘Bedrock Frequencies’ compilation which included 31 exclusive tracks from some of the labels favourite artists, reaching #2 in Beatport’s Progressive House chart. With a new album scheduled for the late months, expect the rest of the year to be equally as impressive as the duo aim to make it their biggest to date.

The German outfit has been on an incredible run of form with promising developments in all of their endeavors and exciting news still to come. Be it a fresh remix or EP drop, DJ set or party, Monkey Safari will be sure to touch all scopes of dance culture with no signs of deceleration on the horizon.

Their mandate remains the same, sending sunny vibes to make even the darkest dance floors smile.
