Our September edition in the First Word mixtape series is delivered by the legendary DJ Marcia Carr. A pioneering selector, broadcaster and champion of soulful music in all its forms, Marcia has been a central figure in London’s underground for decades. She’s brought her deep, wide-reaching knowledge to clubs and festivals worldwide, as well as the airwaves via stations including Mi-Soul, NTS and more. Known as “the DJs’ DJ,” her sets move effortlessly through house, soul, disco, jazz, gospel and beyond – always with passion, depth and a spirit of connection at the core.
