Jeremy Olander's Vivrant imprint continues to impress with its global roster, adding the accolades of Germany's Dominik Eulberg to the party with a hazy new remix of Marino Canal's "Lost Souls Seeking Comfort."

Dominik Eulberg's remix breathes new life into Marino Canal's 2019 label debut, spinning the progressive house original into a slow-burning dancefloor melodrama, making the most of the veteran producer's organic fluttering percussion and delicately placed synthwork along the way. Vivrant fans will quickly notice that the track strays from the Swedish label's club-ready house sound, but it's Eulberg's whimsically enchanting atmosphere that allows his latest release to truly hit the mark.

This classic 80s pop tune brings back a lot of blurry childhood memories. Recording the vocals turned out to be not as much fun as I expected - I really love to sing it but one day after a recording session the vocals always seemed so out of tune that I had to sing it again - and again and again.

1. Hi Paul! Thanks so much for connecting with We Are Machine. Back on August 10th you played at Silver & Smoke in Sarajevo. What can you tell us about the electronic music scene there?

I used to play in the former Yugoslavian countries constantly in my early years, quite often even back to back weekends. But this was actually my first performance there since 2010, so I can’t give you a good reference about what the current scene is like, based on one show. The Sarajevo scene for my kind of sound doesn’t seem too big yet, but there are some hardworking local artists like Forniva, Eleven Sins and A Skitzo who are making names for themselves. Silver & Smoke is regularly bringing cool DJ’s over so there’s some movement going on for sure. The crowd was great too, and I ended up playing a 3 1/2 hour set. Had a good time!
 
2. “Sahara Sun” is your latest collaboration with Hank Achi following your releases for labels like Plattenbank, your Manual Music label, and most recently 90watts just last month. What do you feel are your strengths as a duo across your releases together?

Hardly anyone knows who Hank Achi is, and he’d like to keep the mystery in place. But I can tell you that under another name he’s signed to Richie Hawtin’s Minus, Dubfire’s SCI+TEC, Pig & Dan’s Elevate and more of those A-list techno labels. I think the combination of his techno background and my melodic progressive kind of sound works pretty well together, and we complement each other’s efforts.
 
3. What made Pangea Recordings a good home for your “Sahara Sun” release, and how did you connect with label boss, DJ Samer?

“Sahara Sun” is one of those typical tracks where you don’t instantly have an idea on which label it would fit because of its crossover sound. It’s doesn’t really fit into a certain genre ‘box’ so to speak. So I took my time to do some research and keep my ears open, and I noticed that Pangea was releasing some cool, open-minded crossover dance floor material. Samer was already a friend on Facebook so it was easy to connect and show him the song which, fortunately, he liked enough to sign to his lovely label.
 
4. For your own Manual Music label, Berlin-based Christian Bachmann has just released his “Fog Machine” single which is essentially a preview for his Stardust artist album to follow in October. What can you share about the album?

I love working with Christian- not only because it’s always a smooth process to work with him, but also because I think he’s musically amazing. Anyone that has heard his debut album, Premium knows what I’m talking about. If you haven’t heard it: go check it out! Stardust will be even better, and it really shows his growth as an artist.

5. What have been some of your summer highlights so far and what are some key dates for you coming up in the fall?

I’ve had a blast in most recent weeks doing a little Canada tour, making my debut in Dusseldorf, Germany and returning to Sarajevo for the first time in ages. This whole period was a highlight for me. Something I’m looking forward to this fall: ADE. Without a doubt, the highlight of every year!
