Oliver Huntemann always delivers - especially on his own Senso imprint. After two decades at the forefront of the European scene, to see his name on a record gua- rantees deep and deeply accomplished techno with a precise, refined production and high-definition details.
Both tunes on this double-header live up to the billing. 'Pech' is a masterclass in the selection and combination of tone, texture and the thoughtful treatments applied to them. A long two-minute build paves the way for a sustained bass tone that teases the listener with well-timed pitch bends. Elements unfold and flower organically as the tune reaches its climax of dancing synth lines.
'Schwefel' takes a voyage into more eerie territory, full of echo and distant music- box pings. Huntemann balances these delicate melodic sounds with gritty synth repetitions that finally win the day to deliver a surging, stirring and deeply memo- rable roller.

Munich based producers Julian Wassermann & Oliver Deuerling stick to their roots on their “Monopterus” EP. A sonic incursion into the deep ends of house and tech, the duo pay homage to their hometown, as each title track points us in the direction of a well known city landmark.

Much like the monument with the same name, “Monopterus” is a solid construction starting off with an exposed kick that’s soon suspended by intricate melody parts, spare percussion and ethereal synths. Björn Störig tones down the drama on the remix. By focusing on the percussive line, Störig reshapes the melody, giving the track a relentless groove with major peak-time appeal.

“Muechner Freiheit” surprises with its minimalist ambiental approach, as looped piano chords create a sense of celestial atmosphere. The track is stripped back and hypnotic, adding to its sense of airiness. “Schwabing” combines the complementary essences of the past two original tracks, fusing an atmospheric ambiance with a steady, energetic percussion. Hazy vocals increase the oneiric sensation, anticipating the uplifting and elating breakdown. The final track is a robust cut that's full of tension and brooding darkness. Whirring synths and electronic squelches intertwine with ghastly vocals, amping up the murky factor.“Omen” showcases an elegant exercise in layering unusual textures, and the perfect track to finish off the release.

Dusty Kid is one of most renowned Italian electronic music artists. His profile remains in the underground side of the industry but his musical skills are great and eclectic. 'Istmo' is leaded by a catchy melody surrounded by a powerful bassline and deep elements. 'Sysma' is such a real techno track, a few but well chosen elements and some original and surprising breaks… Closing the release we find 'Feelers', a track with a raw beat, big bassline and lead synth, enough to do serious damage to any techno dancefloor.

Soma’s 100th album release is a huge milestone for the label and reiterates how influential the Glasgow brand has been in defining the musical landscape for two decades. 

There is no better way to celebrate both the impact and influence of the label than by showcasing one of Glasgow’s most successful Techno exports. Gary Beck embodies the continued innovation of Soma, having worked in close collaboration with the label from his 2009 debut onwards. In the years since his first release Gary Beck has become a global Techno sensation performing at every major venue and starting his own successful label, Bek Audio, which has seen his tracks selling out at an incredible rate. This album highlights just why Gary Beck has reached such a pinnacle and again shows that his collaborations with Soma are always incendiary. Throughout the album every track is perfectly balanced and totally unique creating a sonic journey from the first bar to the last. 

The epic scale of the album is reflected in the first track ‘I Read About You’ which seems to expand and develop constantly bringing in ambience, intricate drum patterns and ethereal synths which create a spiritual and expansive quality. 

The opener is punctuated brilliantly by the sharp and deep style of Algoreal, which winds the tension up again and takes the music in another new direction. 

Beck’s mastery of integrating various original musical themes is a signature of this record and the development of sounds is striking. A clear example of this is in how well spaced and electro elements are crafted on ‘D51’ to create an exciting sense of anticipation and a powerfully organic feel. This means that there is a chance to create tracks which feel like whole ensemble pieces rather than an exercise in strict, clinical production. 

Throughout there is a strong sense of musicianship, but this is balanced well with the engrossing physicality of tracks. ‘Unaware’ for example has heavy bass, beats and all manner of carefully developed production elements which create an almost disorientating sense of power. 

Certain tracks follow different musical routes and the scope of this is kept in check with regard to the whole album by tracks like ‘Hopkin’ which tie these different elements together as part of a complete work. The tracks have such varied rhythm patterns and production which are often understated but always effective. 

Little moon is a perfect interlude with bright and beautiful sounds which although being the shortest track on the album creates its own detailed atmosphere and imagery, a transcendent moment on the album. 

The progression of the Samba-influenced beats and resonant drums of ‘Operation’ is another great example of the strength and complexity of this album, creating a whole new soundscape and another avenue for exploration. This is a shattering end to the album and brings everything to a close in a fashion which is absolutely fitting for such a great album. Album number 100 is certainly worthy of its place in Soma history and the achievement in creating this piece of music matches the great achievements of Soma in getting to this landmark.

'Surreal' could almost be the title of Julian Wassermann's musical career. 

The Munich based producer is currently one of the most respected within melodic house and deep techno. As a resident DJ at Harry Klein, Munich and numerous appearances in clubs like Watergate, Berlin at festivals like Pleinvrees, Amsterdam and SEMF in Stuttgart, Wassermann stayed in people's memories through his energetic and eclectic sets.   

With his top 10 single "Gotland" (2019), Julian also made his international breakthrough. The techno single was released on "Kompakt" (Speicher), one of the most renowned labels worldwide. The collaboration was created with Florian Kruse from Berlin. Even giants on the scene such as Tale of Us, Kölsch and Joris Voorn clearly liked "Gotland" in their sets.   

Other releases were also very successful - "Surreal", for example, already counts more than 2 million spotify streams and was among others in the playlist of Deadmau5. Also his remix "La Danse Du Scorpion" for Sébastien Léger went straight to number 1 after release. The single "Sirius" was supported several times in 2017 by the legend Pete Tong´s Show on BBC Radio 1. Further productions were released on well known labels such as Stil vor Talent, Einmusika, Last Night On Earth and Parquet Recordings.   

 Already with his successful releases on Stil vor Talent, "Monopterus" (2016), "Aurea" (2016) and "Lyra" (2017), Julian became one of the most successful producers in the scene. The tracks immediately made it into the top 10 of the Beatport charts. With the EP "Monopterus", Julian even made it into the Top 10 as a personal highlight to be able to place three tracks of the release - led by "Monotperus" at the top of the charts on number 1.   

We're excited about future releases and the career of an artist who can’t be replicated.
