Returning to Proton Music, Janko Dragovic has created a powerful narrative with his Desaturate production moniker. Reaching a notable highlight in January 2018 with his "Wanderer" EP, the Serbian artist now creates another moment of magic with "Spinal Slip". Joining forces with production partner, Goran Ferenc for the second original track on the EP, the duo's Dual Flux soubriquet provides another sonic highlight via "Ground Zero". Remixes comes from iconic Croatian and Belarusian artists.

Characterised by intricate percussive top line and commanding bass pattern, a filtered melodic refrain appears in Desaturate's "Spinal Slip" amongst waves of white-noise effects. Pulsating evenly across its 10-minute duration, glass arps appear at the stripped back breakdown before emerging in the second half with heavy beat and additional growling bassline, to mesmeric effect. The similarly forceful, "Ground Zero", immediately catches the ear with its driving kick and relentless bass as an off-beat tambourine makes itself heard and filtered stabs supply melodic weight. Striking vocal cuts add further texture in a track that builds to a rousing acid-fuelled crescendo at the breakdown, before launching into the third movement with gusto and force.

Petar Dundov is no stranger to the Proton Music catalogues with his work dating back to a June 2019 remix for Simos Tagias. Two original EPs have since followed with December 2020's "Salvation / Nature of Nature" and October 2021's "Spark" illustrating the Croatian's unrivalled production technique. Returning to Proton with a third remix, Petar Dundov's commanding rework is a majestic offering that evolves in characteristic fashion from a beat-laden opening to swells of familiar melodic refrains from "Spinal Slip". Emerging through the sonic collage, a glorious new piano refrain gradually builds to a delay-infused masterstroke, while elements from the Desaturate original criss-cross the stereo spectrum with dizzying panache. A new arp adds intrigue at the breakdown before melodic plucks and rolling rhythmic precision again flourish in the second half.

Another familiar name to the Proton Music roster, Michael A has continued to play a central role with a half-century of credits that has witnessed an abundance of original releases that included the likes of "Symbol", "Aura Tears" and "Geometria" between 2017 and 2019. Beginning the "Fantasy" series in September 2020 with an array of original new music, "Vol. 3" is set to hit the shelves in early 2022. A clutch of remixes for the likes of Dousk, James Monro and Pole Folder adding to his portfolio, the Michael A remix of "Ground Zero" takes the driving techno character of the original and transforms it into a lilting progressive gem. Glistening with flowing new melodic phrases that shimmer across the left-right soundstage, elements from Dual Flux's original intelligently sit in the opulent surroundings of Michael's production work, while a strong beat and ticking percussion add club credentials.

Originals from Desaturate and Dual Flux plus remixes from Petar Dundov and Michael A build a towering musical edifice to "Spinal Slip / Ground Zero".

A regular performer around Berlin, Michael Ritter has previously appeared on Stellar Black, YOMO Records and Polyptych. Returning to his own Grey Bar Hotel for his latest release, the DJ/producer delivers four deep and moving tracks across the ‘Yawa Raf’ EP. Leading the release, the title track ‘Yawa Raf’ builds with rolling percussion amongst sparkling, discordant motifs, filtered vocals, and a rolling low-end groove. ‘Barfuss’ continues with deep kicks, a gentle bassline, and hypnotic synth lines building up to a delicate piano sequence. Rapid-fire shakers and hi-hats meet club-friendly analogue leads on ‘Cassé’, before closing track ‘Elephant’ rounds out the release with syncopated melodic elements and clever arrangements amongst gorgeous chords.

A vital collective member and resident, JAMIIE steps up for her long-awaited debut EP on Watergate Records.
 
The artist has been a regular at the club stretching back to 2016, when she joined RISE, the Afro House collective that runs monthly residencies at Watergate. Despite this, JAMIIE has always gone her own way sonically, exploring deeper house and melodic tones, alongside the Afro influences. 
 
A constant at Oberbaumbrücke spot during the 2020/2021, she, along with Kristin Velvet were the beating hearts of the club, hosting the Watergate Worldwide streams every week. This year has been a standout for her playing Tomorrowland, Exit Festival and supporting Solomun at Watergate, among many other highlights. 
 
Following up label contributions which include ‘Suwedi’, with Niko Schwind that featured on Hyenah’s ‘Watergate 27’ compilation and the fantastic ‘Echoes’ on ‘Watergate 20’ due out November 2020, we’re treated to a generous five-track package for her maiden EP outing on Watergate Records. 
 
Beginning life during a summer-time sketch session in bed (her favourite spot to start new creative ideas), ‘Voices’ is an emotive weapon, driven by a captivating synth lead, and chunky Afro-infused bottom end. "’Voices’" is mysterious and is inspired by our thoughts, our inner voice,” JAMIIE shares. “There’s something truly mysterious and remarkable about our inner voice, the means by which we make ourselves aware of who we are and what we think and even feel. Our inner voice is very powerful. It can lift us up and weigh us down. It also makes decisions for us, even when sometimes we don’t want to listen to it.” 
 
‘Unfold Me’ is a glorious end-of-night future classic, as grandiose synths rub shoulders with beautiful bass melodies, before a delicate key interlude gives JAMIIE the opportunity to build the energy right back up again. “This has a personal meaning and again, has to do with the journey inwards to discovered ourselves. Like many other people I am an extroverted introvert.  I think we can be quite confusing and peculiar to others. On the one hand, social and outgoing; on the other, very guarded, selective and hard to get to know. So, it needs time to unfold the layers to understand an extrovert introvert person, if they should let you in,” she explains.
 
The originals are complemented by a trio of tight remixes chosen by JAMIIE, from three artists close to her heart: Portuguese Afro Tech producer DJEFF delivers a blissfully silky re-work of ‘Voices’; Italian artist Malandra Jr., whose most notably released on Diynamic, crafts a chugging and cosmic reinterpretation of the title track, while Stil Vor Talent’s Annett Gapstream sends ‘Unfold Me’ on a dreamy orbit skywards.

Julien Vertigo, DJ/Producer from the area of Nyon in Switzerland, has been an avid electronic music lover for years. His dedication and love for music led him to take a huge leap in 2018, when he decided to fully commit himself to produce his own journeys oscillating between Progressive & Melodic Techno. His immersive unique touch bring his audience into an eclectic experience of experimental floating melodies full of emotions combining organic grooves and unexpected crunchy sounds to deliver an authentic signature to his musical trip. No later than 2020 Julien’s talent already got the massive recognition from Tiësto through his well-known Club Life Podcast and more recently Joris Voorn, Eli & Fur (Anjunadeep), Øostil, Fideles or Kevin de Vries (Afterlife) pushed his music through the best venues in the world. Since 2022, Julien started to play great venues in Switzerland like D! Club in Lausanne (alongside Massano, Rebuke or Nora En Pure), Audio in Geneva, Afterseason Festival in Villars and he made his debut at Nordstern Basel alongside Worakls in February 2023. His odyssey is constantly evolving as he challenges himself and pushes his limits, allowing his passion for music to fuel him.
