Certain things are unavoidable, as though written down in the book of times. They occur inexorably, unflinchingly. In doing so, they change what came before, from now into an uncertain tomorrow. The coming together of the 5 Backstage Boys could be described in such a way. It was meant to be and will continue to be so. For they are going to leave their mark on Zurich’s music scene, putting their signature on present and future with their unmistakable groove; their work is going to resonate, to influence and inspire other talented city musicians. How wonderful that Burt Cobain, Henry Sure, Justin Case, Karl Gustav and Maag should have found each other one fateful backstage morning at that certain location.

Joeski & Doc Martin - Vajra EP 

Joeski returns to Poker Flat Recordings in collaboration with Doc Martin for yet another reminder of why they are held in such high regard within the scene. Having cut his teeth in the early 90s, the NYC house veteran Joeski teams up with L.A. based Doc Martin to bring more heat to this latest release - the Vajra EP.

Featuring the vocal talents of Lillia, the guys lay down a signature deep, tough and funky groove for her to work her magic on. Through a minimum of elements, the track buries deep into the consciousness, before Lillia brings in subtle vocal flourishes to deepen the intensity.

'Leary's Revenge' is a shade tougher in its approach - a thick, insistent kick coupled with precise percussion to create a true late night banger. Utilising their feel for dubbed out effects and space, Joeski and Doc bring in some tripped out spoken word vocals to round out the track.

The uber-talented Romanian DJ and producer Mihai Popovicu is considered one of the most innovative eastern European producers of electronic music today and finally returns to Poker Flat Recordings once again. 

Continuing his rich vein of form into 2019, the Understand EP drops soon after his collaboration with James Dexter, and once again shows why he's well worth getting excited about. 

First up on this release is 'Inside Me', which underlines Popoviciu's perfect understanding of how to create rich and thick grooves from a minimum of sources. The track bumps and rolls, helped along by a deep, evolving bass lead that will undoubtedly get rinsed all over the summer. 

Similarly, 'Understand' keeps the vibe - a heavy tech house hitter with some classic feeling stabs and nice vocal snippets.
