Rayyan and Bara'a are best friends. I've sat down with them to talk about many topics: family, love, cinema, the lgtbiq+ community in Palestine, the occupation, partying... and how they see themselves in a few years.

One young woman who has never left Palestine and another who, after living and studying in the United States, has decided to return to Palestine on her own to live and work. Both are very good friends, and we sat down to talk about what life is like for a young woman in Palestine today.

We talked about their lives, family, passion for cinema, love, partying, the lgtbiq+ community in Palestine, and a crazy last story that I don’t want to reveal here (you’ll have to listen to it). Adventures they have had and the ones they want to have in the future.

Honestly, I think this talk is important, as both have been extremely generous in sharing their stories, and by listening to them you can understand a lot about what it is like to grow up and live in the West Bank for young Palestinians.

The Listening Club EP.3 - Youth (Bethlehem, Palestine)

This is a special composition that I have made during my stay in Bethlehem, Palestine as an artist in residence at Wonder Cabinet. This piece mixes the experiences and voices I have heard here, captured in field recordings, some from a few days ago, and field recordings made previously in other places that have also had a special impact on me, mixed with modular synth electronics and Buchla.

Something I had wanted to do since I became part of the Radio Alhara family, was to make a program in tribute to my country and its struggle of the last decades, looking for change, peace, freedom and prosperity.   

In this mix in which I have worked with a lot of love and passion you will be able to listen to audios of protests, folk drums mixed with cacerolazos (banging on pots and pans), my favorite Venezuelan artist Simón Díaz in versions of Artificial Intelligence, Sofia Imber talking to Jesús Soto, Venezuelan Rap as a representative of our powerful urban and street culture, the garden of my mother's house, the guacharacas birds, sounds of our folklore compiled by Oswaldo Lares...

On the Palestinian side, demonstrations I have attended, songs I have recorded since I arrived here in Bethlehem such as “Free Palestine” sung live by Amwaj-Al Raseef, a poem by Refaat Alareer that appears in the book Gaza Reader vol.1 Poetry and more... 

I want to thank @diana Venezuelan artist, for collaborating with me translating and reading the poem “If I Must Die” by Refaat Alareer for this mix. Thanks to Rayaan for the suggestions of Palestinian music and artists.
