SA Music Hour - 13 June - Prime Circle Launch

A generous two hour gift of UK Garage grooves and breakbeat energy, recorded live below the setting sun at Afrikaburn 2025 at Die Hek (The Gate). This set rides the line between slick 2-step rhythms and raw, rolling breaks — capturing the pulse of the desert and the movement of the arriving crowd. 

As the sun dipped behind the Tankwa horizon, the playa came alive: syncopated basslines, vocal chops, and shuffling percussion echoing through dust and flame. This is a love letter to the sound sub-culture that shapes us and to everyone I had the privilege of welcoming there - reimagined from the Burn to the Clouds.

Turn it up loud, wherever you are — this one's for the ravers, the dancers, the party-hard kin.

Coming to terms with the whole ai change has been gut wrenching and there’s a lot to soak up and to talk about. Reddit has been a good source for getting grounded and like the way i’m working with ai these days feels less like cheating, more me in it, because, well these are my ideas and because I know it needs a lot of babysitting. I'm starting to get perspective like it's better to embrace the inevitability of it all while maintaining a sense of self worth in the process. Looking at my Ableton project for this song you would see a huge amount of additional work I needed to put in. I mean it’s not so straight forward as simply writing a prompt I guess and then there’s the mixing and mastering and all those decisions and choices so yeah music ai is a tool genius but it can’t make what you're hearing without some serious intervention by a skilled producer, nor would this beautiful song have magically come into existence - all alone.

Description: Contradictions is a philosophical epiphany and reflects the protagonist's calmness while showing other people battling in life, making life complicated and difficult for themselves, behaving as slaves to the economy, parenting, bureaucracy, ego and existential crises, etc, while the protagonist meanders effortlessly past these numerous interactions not detached or alone-looking, but empathetic, with a kind smile as he continues on a path to his light.
