This youth association was born in December 2014 as a non-profit organization to carry out cultural activities of dissemination, training, and development for the defense, promotion, and dissemination of electronic music created in Catalonia in all its artistic variants. This time the invited artists will pay tribute to the mythical free festival that takes place every year in Barcelona, AMEBA Parkfest, not held in 2020 due to sanitary restrictions

MARICAS was born in January 2018 due to several discussions about the lack of a night-out in Barcelona that combined electronic music and the queer scene. If we look back on history, the techno rave community started with the help of the LGBTQ+ misfits of the 80s. Both communities have very similar values, freedom, youth and underground culture. Our home is Barcelona, but we aim to take MARICAS all over the globe, and have already had nights in Stockholm, Ibiza, Paris, Valencia and participated in Whole Festival. In 2020 MARICAS Records was founded, a genre music fluid label, and the first release was non other than by resident and maricas mother ISAbella.

“When I moved to Berlin in 2015, coming from a hip hop and jazz background, club music and culture felt extremely far from me and to be honest, at the time, I would’ve never thought I’d ever be into techno or electronic music in general. 

And here’s me, 5 years later, a proper raver. I fell in love with those sounds and with the new world that opened its doors to me. 

I slowly started collecting dance music records, although to this day it is quite a challenge to play them, being used to playing mostly hip hop and disco-adjacent music and being a big fan of tight cuts. 

But I am so happy to present you this vinyl mix today made from the records that initiated the birth of my rave collection. I’d describe the mix as “a pallet of dance floor feelings I experienced”... maybe mixed a bit roughly at times, but each track played truly and with all my heart. This is me being thrown into the unknown and becoming instantly addicted to it.

P.S. I miss the dance floor and its community."

Yollks has well and truly indented herself in the local music scene, with her organic blend of Acid, Rave, Electro, Breakbeat and re-worked pop samples, Yollks incites movement and elation all across Melbourne's most renowned bars and clubs. With a string of various compilations under her belt, she is one to know.
