On a bitterly cold January evening approximately 30 or so English Defence League members met at College Green for a peaceful flash mob. They were there to demonstrate about planning permission being granted to convert the currently deserted Jester’s comedy club in Stokes Croft into a Mosque. They were met by a counter demonstration of approximately 90 or so members of the Bristol United Against Fascism group.
With the opposing groups asserting their democratic rights they were separated by a thin blue line of Police Officers. The air was thick with insults, counter insults and tension. Darting between the lines I spoke to all sides, here’s what happened...

During my trip to Tokyo I got a chance to hang-out at the world famous Blue Note club with the former world reggae sound-clash champions - Mighty Crown sound-system who were opening up for the Skatalites, who pioneered the sound of Ska. So from their humble beginnings in the ghettos of downtown Jamaica to the heart of modern down town Tokyo, it could be said that the Skatalites are touring Jah-pan rather than Japan. 

For this interview I was blessed to speak with one of the newer band members Zem who shares his inspirations and aspirations. This interview is topped off with a special mash-up featuring some of their greatest hits with remixes from various artists who sight the Skatalites as an inspiration.

The circumstances of his murder remain clouded in mystery, however what is not debatable is Malcolm X’s impact. Love him or hate him - his thinking and teachings continue to have a huge impact almost 5 decades on from his death.  
Through music this podcast celebrates the life of one of the greatest black icons of the 20th century’s - Malcolm X.

Over the coming months, Drive For Change will celebrate the purpose of the protest, the people who led it and the progress made since it defeated the colour bar.  This openly racist policy that discriminated against employing Blacks and Asians was defeated on the same day that Martin Luther King had a Dream. Its victory also led to the creation of the Race Relations Act 1965. 

As part of empowering and educating the passengers, whilst travelling on the bus they will be able to listen to a series of short ads and vox pops. This ad proudly celebrates Bristol's very first brave Black and Brown Bus Drivers.

In October 2015, the core funder's of St Paul's Carnival withdrew their funding from St Paul's Afrikan Caribbean Ltd, the organization responsible for putting on St Paul's Carnival. Following this withdraw of funding an independent grass-roots led group of concerned community organizations formed the Carnival Commission with a view to researching the options for reviving a sustainable African Caribbean led celebration on the streets of St Paul's. 

This pocast captures the discussions that took place when the report was released on 16th June at The Kuumba Center. It features inside perspectives from the founders, the funders and the Mayor to carnivilst, organisers and community groups.
