Blitzing techno from Tbilisi’s finest, @newa takes the reins of number 13 in the Junction 2 mix series.

A resident of techno stronghold Bassiani, Newa is at the forefront of the fledgling underground scene in her home country of Georgia. Growing up classically trained, the Icontrax label boss has made a seamless transition into the electronic music sphere to land huge releases on labels such as Klockworks, Semantica and Arsenik. With her diverse sets exploring low-level bass, squelching acid and potent melodies, she has become a favourite on Ben Klock’s touring event series Photon and showcases why she is one to watch with a standout mix for the Junction 2 series.

For number 14 in the Junction 2 mix series, we welcome DJ, producer, and Ruta5 label boss Sonja Moonear.
 
One of the underground scene’s most prolific globetrotters, @moonear has been at the forefront of the minimal rising wave since the early 00s. Touted for her distinctive taste in the stripped-back house and intimate techno, the Genevan stalwart became an instant festival favorite after her B2B outings with Nicolas Lutz in 2018 and 2019. Set to continue the mischief on the Albanian Riviera, Sonja will join us for the first edition of ION Festival this September.

LA-based DJ and producer, @truncate, delivers a heavy hitting workout for the next edition of the Junction 2 mix series. 
 
One of the flag bearers of the West-Coast electronic scene, David Flores has been an ever present force since his inauguration in the 90’s. Orbiting the stripped back, deeper, raw sounds of techno as Truncate, he boasts unremitting praise from household staples including Ben Klock, DVS1 and Modeselektor. His latest release, Sketch, in collaboration with techno great James Ruskin, is a cultivating taster into Truncate’s sound palette: high-powered, punchy and cutting-edge techno.

Lindsey Herbert delivers 90 minutes of timeless techno for number 27 in the Junction 2 mix series.

Beginning her career at the age of 16, Lindsey Herbert has continued to drift towards the trippier realms of techno. Having become a recognised name in the scene, her unique sets often explore soundscapes laced together by dark, deep and heavy textures, as well as psychedelic elements. Currently a member of San Francisco’s party outfit Direct To Earth, Lindsey has played in Europe’s major cities, including Berlin’s Tresor and Georgia’s Gate Club. Her first release was a remix for Martyn Päsch’s ‘Scared’ in 2018 and she is now signed to a long list of labels including NECHTO, Planet X and No Way Records. The American talent is expected to release her debut solo vinyl EP in September.

Northern Ireland breakouts, RIOT CODE deliver a dose of ruckus rave energy for number 28 in the Junction 2 mix series.
 
Their entrance to the industry came at a stand still time, although it proved not to be a problem for the duo. Their debut EP ‘Drive Tribe’ hit the ears of many with this success smoothly transitioning onto their debut vinyl release on Carouse Records. Selling out in store, ‘Tripwire’ was a clear and sure sign that RIOT CODE were not to be taken lightly. Support from a host of high caliber artists like VTSS, Paula Temple, Dax J, SPFDJ and IMOGEN stands as a testament to that word.

Junction 2 Mix Series 028 - RIOT CODE

From celestial house to entrancing electro, Laylla Dane delivers a dose of eclectic grooves for the latest mix in the Junction 2 series.

Catching the eye of Zip back in 2014, Sofia-born, Berlin-based Laylla has steadily grown in stature to sit alongside Kink as Bulgaria’s ambassador for house and techno in Europe. Now frequently found at esteemed hideouts Club der Visionaere and Hoppetosse, Laylla’s signature stripped back sound has a long list of admirers and this 60 minute mix provides a brief glimpse as to why.

Junction 2 Mix Series 029 - Laylla Dane

Unadulterated warehouse grooves from Ireland’s finest, Cromby delivers mix number 30 in the Junction 2 series.
 
Cutting his teeth holding down a six year residency at the legendary Shine in Belfast, Cromby has been on a steady rise since his production debut in 2012. Following up with acclaimed releases on Rekids, Feel My Bicep and Unknown To The Unknown, 2020 marked the next chapter in Cromby’s career with the launch of his own imprint, Potency. Now residing in Berlin, Cromby is a regular at coveted strongholds,  Berghain / Panorama Bar, The Warehouse Project and fabric to name a few.

Junction 2 Mix Series 030 - Cromby

Kharkiv local, Monotronique delivers over 2 hours of off-kilter dance floor material for mix number 31 in the Junction 2 series.

Situated in Ukraine, Roman has been at the forefront of the country’s vibrant underground scene ever since making his debut back in 2013. Pushing a sound that’s characteristically minimalist with a deep underlayer of bass, breaks and electro influences, he holds notable releases on labels such as Opal Tapes, Banoffee Pies and Holding Hands. 

As an active DJ/producer in Ukraine during the current conflict, it has been difficult for artists to maintain their trade, yet Monotronique continues to release music despite having to relocate home. His most recent EP ‘No Other Place Like Home’ on acclaimed Bristol imprint Livity Sounds is dedicated to the struggle in his country, with half of the label’s profits donated to the DEC Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal.

Junction 2 Mix Series 031 - Monotronique

u.r.trax brings an hour of dynamic techno for number 32 in the Junction 2 series.

Parisian DJ and producer u.r.trax gives a thrillingly refreshing take on the techno scene with her high-octane releases. Having made a staggering impact on the European music scene despite her young age, u.r.trax has already a frequent face on lineups with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Dax J and SPFDJ. Featuring scintillating production interspersed with punchy percussion and fragments of contorted speech, her mix delivers a surreal, hypnotic journey through the spectrum of  techno.

Esa delivers an hour of magnetic material for mix number 33 of the Junction 2 series. 

Merging influences from his South African roots with inspiration from his global travels, Esa uses this to sculpt his unique sound. With notable releases on labels like Permanent Vacation and Brownswood, he also runs his own highly touted imprint, Rememory Music.  Charismatic, eclectic and eccentric are just some of the ways to describe this odyssey of exploration which Esa invites us on as he drifts through a range of genres in this free-flowing mix.

Esa will be joining Dixon, Maribou State DJ, Chaos In The CBD, Eclair Fifi and Effy at The Observatory stage, hosted by Love Unlimited, on Saturday 18th June at Junction 2 Festival.

Junction 2 Mix Series 033 - Esa

Alex Frosell, better known as DJ ADHD, delivers an hour of trademark, off-kilter gems for number 34 in the Junction 2 Mix series. 

From his roots in the UK dubstep scene as part of the DEEP MEDI family to his most recent repositioning as DJ ADHD, Alex has carved out a distinguished sound that blurs the lines between techno and UK bass music. Last year’s standout debut EP release on Pretty Weird saw support from artists such as Four Tet, Floating Points, Caribou, Giant Swan and Special Request and he’s continued his prolific output into 2022 with dancefloor tested releases with Nikki Nair, Villager and Chloé Robinson.

Junction 2 Mix Series 035 - Maceo Plex

From timeless celestial house to body warping electro, star on the rise KT delivers 60 minutes of all-vinyl gems in the latest Junction 2 mix.

Residing in London and working at the forefront of the scene for over a decade, northern crate digger extraordinaire and Sisu resident, KT, has demonstrated her wizardry on the decks with sublime selections at The Cause, Village Underground, Corsica Studios and The Lion and Lamb to name a few.

Her versatile sound and taste encapsulates everything from rare 90’s house, electro, trance, prog, garage, new wave breaks and everything in-between. Since clubs re-opened she's been closely affiliated with the Alien Communications family and has played at their infamous London parties alongside the likes of Silverlining, Truly Madly, Move D, Mathew Jonson, DMX Krew, Adam Pits, Sansibar, DJ Masda and more. Other appearances include her stream for the Late Night Shopper crew, Gunfinger Food x Next Door Records in-store and guest mixes on London’s Balamii, Netil Radio, Voices, Threads and Brixton Radio.

If you’ve been lucky enough to catch her play then you’ll know how slick her selections are. Expect another energy fuelled performance next Sunday as the UK based vinyl junkie joins Helena Hauff, Hector Oaks, Karenn, MARRØN and Armând on The Car Park stage at Junction 2: Inner-City. Keep an eye out on the timetable for a few sets at ION Festival too.

With the date and lineup set for the momentous fifth year edition of Junction 2, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Junction 2 mix series. Keeping your listening needs topped as the countdown to 4th June begins, we will be bringing you exclusive mixes from artists that have dazzled at the festival before and thoses who are on our radar for the future.

Kicking off the series is DJ, producer and underground hero, Ashley Burchett aka @ashley-phase. A cornerstone of the European scene for the last 2 decades and a leading face of Belgian techno giant, Token, Ashley’s style of full-throttle, dark, rolling techno has gifted us dancefloor gems like Binary Opposition,The Bwiti Initiate, Plateau Station, Border Country ft. Underworld and one of the albums of the summer in WSNWG004 with Rødhåd. A standout performer at Junction 2 2017, the London local locks in another power hour of entrancing, stripped-back, low-end rumblers.

Next up in the Junction 2 Mix Series we welcome Italian super selector, @francesco-del-garda. 

A vinyl obsessive who first caught the bug in the ‘90s, the Timeless label-boss is notorious for unearthing obscure, forgotten dancefloor gems and sought after rarities, holding one of the most mouth-watering record collections in the game today. Ahead of his much anticipated Junction 2 debut next June, Francesco Del Garda conjures up a sonic tale of chugging house psychedelia, springy acid breaks and warping electro spacebombs.

@dr-rubinstein has been an ever growing force on the international scene since relocating to Berlin in 2012. A vinyl-enthusiast at heart with a distinct rave-focused style, her high octane performances are marked with impeccable selections spanning genres, decades and a myriad of acid basslines.

Set to grace Junction 2 with a B2B2B outing with best fellows Avalon Emerson and Roi Perez, Dr. Rubinstein has prepared this kaleidoscopic mix as an early taste of what to expect.

Bold, fearless and unpredictable, @jass-29 delivers a crunching high-speed workout for number 10 in the Junction 2 mix series.

Honing her craft as a resident DJ for Berlin-based party crew and label Mannequin, Spanish-born Silvia Jiménez Alvarez has grown into one of the scene’s most distinguished talents. Known for pushing the boundaries with genre-fusing explorations, JASSS received industry wide acclaim for her debut album ‘Weightless’ on iDEAL and followed up last year with a standout solo EP on AD 93 (fka Whities). The all-encompassing selector will be joining us at ION Festival this September.

Junction 2 Mix Series 010 - JASSS

Since launching in 2016, Junction 2 has grown into a globally recognised event with an underground cult following. Deeply rooted in club culture and ultra-consistent across operations, production, music policy and vibe, the festival puts the audience journey at the heart of the experience. 

Made up of a variety of bespoke and creative spaces, the London festival has steadily scaled from one day to two, from 10,000 to 25,000 like-minded guests, elevating the scope of UK electronic music festivals to rival those of our European counterparts. No short sets or plastic tents, Junction 2 merges natural beauty, green fields, rambling rivers, woodland pathways and hidden enclaves with impeccable sound, high end production and a meticulous attention to detail. The ethos behind the scenes is as progressive as the booking policy, with a focus on improving sustainability, gender parity, welfare provisions and with active anti-discrimination policies in place. 

Despite the postponement of the 2020 edition, recent months has seen Junction 2 bring the spirit of Boston Manor Park into the digital space as the UK’s first large scale underground virtual festival. Uniting party goers from around the world at a time when we couldn’t freely experience dancefloors, the event was broadcast in over 150 countries. A second edition of the virtual festival came in January 2021 with Junction 2: Connections. Featuring 20 artists and filmed across 3 iconic musical cities (Detroit, Berlin and London), the global electronic music community was brought together again inside Junction 2’s custom built space, J2v. A truly unique, one-off experience, the digital festival was watched by over 3.1million viewers.

Junction 2’s vision is focused on elevating original and pioneering artists whilst providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for future generations to blossom.
