A warm welcome to the start of a new mix series from myself. I find myself having a lovely mix most Sundays so I thought it would be nice to start a series showcasing those who inspire me and my musical journey. This instalment is a journey from 172bpm liquid funk to hard hitting minimal at 176bpm featuring absolute dons such as DRS, LSB, Calibre, Break and many more thank you for listening and I hope you enjoy the sounds.

To kick off this new series of Resident Mixes we are gassed to have Katalyst’s  resident mix up first!! With some incredible flavours of Jungle, Jump Up and energetic rollers, this mix from start to finish, is UNREAL!! A proper showcase of the incredible talent of Katalyst!

This year saw the spotlight turn to Katalyst's production which has already been supported on BBC Radio 1 by Jeremiah, Charlie Tee and Jaguar. Not only having her music showcased on national radio, she was also invited to do a guest mix for the Radio 1 Drum and Bass show enabling her to present a wide variety of mixing styles and tracks. 
Not only has her music been widely supported by the Drum and Bass community, her DJ sets have blown people away at Iconic venues and festivals such as Drum Sheds, Outlook and Glastonbury festival. 
In true Katalyst fashion, she enters 2024 with a bang - completing a mentorship with EQ50 and Ram Records, and an artillery of releases under her belt. These include a collab with Deekline, and working with well respected vocalists such as Natty Campbell and Madrush Mc. This year's Katalyst's release schedule is looking busier than ever, but she doesn't stop there! Securing a new role as A&R Coordinator for Jungle Cakes and Gorilla Warefare. She becomes fully submerged behind the scenes, gaining more knowledge in the music industry to propell her own career as well as other artists...
2024 - Watch this space! It's clear that her very particular blend of talents has the potential to offer us a twist on the formula we've never quite heard before.

Furious Freaks is a three man DnB project from the Czech Republic; Adam, Jan & Adam. The Prague born trio met 14 years ago, their mutual obsession with drum and bass fused by listening to the likes of Prodigy, Pendulum and Camo & Krooked. In their teens they made a pilgrimage to Let It Roll, which inspired an investment in turntables, then CDJs, culminating in producing and DJing as Furious Freaks.  
After releases on labels such as Grand Theft Audio, DeVice & Nemesis Recordings, Jungle Cakes now welcomes Furious Freaks’ Arcade EP.
The title track ‘Arcade’ is a glitchy, dirty roller, Fishy is a bona fide dance floor destroyer, Dizzy is a pure slice of jungle tech and Put The Work has bounce, but in that head down, it’s 4am type in the club type way.
Furious Freaks are here to stay - don’t be late to the party.

WAVEFORMS : a series of collaborative transmissions where producers trade sounds, ideas, and instincts, reshaping them into new forms of club energy.

For this fourth edition, Cardozo invites Flower B, a rising artist from Lyon, for a dialogue rooted in bass textures. Using granular synthesis as a common tool, they exchanged and re-sculpted the same low-end material, sending it back and forth until it bloomed into two distinct cuts.

Flower B delivers a high-velocity piece, weaving speed dembow with sharp, bass-heavy detailing.
Cardozo responds with Photosynthesis, a track that drifts from half-time dancehall into fluid, understated drum & bass, designed with a subtle rhythmic flow.

Two tracks, one shared language of sound design, transformed through exchange.

Hailing from the Czech Republic, Furious Freaks is a Prague based Drum & Bass project that started its journey in 2012. Since then, its members Bonduel, Hayppa, Avenues and Just Flyp have been making their mark on the scene by steady releases on BNCexpress, Space Pirate Recordings, Empire Recordings, Sinful Maze, Trust Audio and others. You’ll often find them on the club and festival circuit, including performances at the legendary Let It Roll festival.
 
In 2014, they joined the Bass Drop project with whom they organised regular events in one of the most famous clubs in Prague. Soon after they released their first EP ever Born In Acid as a self-release. Their first label releases came in autumn 2016 on BNCexpress. With the intention to unite the Czech & Slovak music scene, they released the Freaks & Friends LP in summer 2018 which was later remixed by other Czech and Slovak producers such as A-Cray or Ripple. Later on, they added another release ‘Knife’ on Modular Carnage Recordings.
 
In 2019, Furious Freaks released their first music video ‘Na Stage’ together with Magenta and MC Brejchus which intelligently blended rap and drum & bass. The next releases included collaborations with Ripple for tracks such as ‘Space Moth’ (Space Pirate Recordings), followed by tunes ‘Time’ and ‘Spirit’ as part of the Bassline Resurrect EP. They also contributed to the rising Czech label Sinful Maze with their tunes ‘Tremble’ and ‘Goblin’. Developing their sound further, they explore new techniques and ways to collaborate with fellow artists, notably with various vocalists whom they consider to be an inherent part of Drum & Bass. This is the rationale behind the collaborations ‘Blind Lines’ ft. MC Shot (BNCexpress), ‘Systems’ ft. Lifesize MC (Empire Recordings) or ‘Own Way’ ft. Anna Vaverka (Hoofbeats Music). The year 2022 marked their premiere on the UK labels with their tune ‘Tribe’ on Trust Audio. You can find upcoming releases on Nemesis Recordings and Lockdown Recordings.
 
They strive to provide their audience with dynamic and original tunes without a rigid categorization into subgenres. They ignore established standards and combine various elements to bring an original touch to their music. The common denominator of Furious Freaks’ tunes is simply Drum & Bass!
