House Of Waves 038 - Take Your Time.

During a hot summer week in 2012 Kalaf Angelo, Gery Mendes, Bamba Nazar, Okmalumkoolkat and Nastio Mosquito came together to connect, compose and record at the Red Bull Studios in Amsterdam. The musicians, producers, visual artist and poet have a background in four different continents but rediscovered their joint heritage and passions rooted in the Motherland. During these sessions and conversations Boom Africa's first thematic EP was born: Boom Africa - The Love Affair.

Boom Africa was initiated by Metro54 and Africanhiphop.com to create a physical platform for music from all corners of Africa and the diaspora, and to promote dialogue and experimentation.

Boom Africa's first release is an ode to the love affair, reminiscent of what photographer Malick Sidibe captured in the imageries of the dancing lovers in the night clubs of 1960s Bamako. Festively, intimately courting your ears to travel with the music to Mogadishu, Luanda, Joburg or Kinsasha, cities that are being revived with injections of a generation of new dreamers and lovers. Boom Africa is a soft coup d'état on the domination of hyper-sexual dance music.
