Painful Reminder was born from my natural urge to make "one of those" - a mid-2000s Tearout Amen epic with vocals. A niche subgenre I've very much been into for years and years now. I started that track using some sort of generic acapella, but knew I'd approach Vlada about doing vocals, and she happily agreed. I've known and talked to Vlada for years and since we worked together on "My Only Night Alive" in 2014 or so, we always wanted to do more stuff but somehow never got around to it until this tune came around. She visited me last year and recorded a demo version of this in my room with a first draft of lyrics she had written for it and i immediately loved it. With the final vocal tracks especially i feel like she makes that song basically entirely on her own.
Production wise, i spent the most amount of time iterating through different amens and trying to get them to sound "just right". Of course as it often goes i never managed to hit that sweet spot I was aiming for but i think the end result is at the very least good enough. The final amen in this tune is a weird Frankenstein hybrid of 3 different breaks with a ton of back and forth processing. I couldn't recount the chain from memory if you held a gun to my head. A stupid amount of work went into that break and i am glad i don't have to think about it anymore from now on.

Algorithmic has been referred to as a "real DJ's DJ" and rightly so. He is one of those producers that if you've been a legit junglist over the past couple of decades, you'll know exactly who he is and how he sounds. One of those "if you know... you know", types of artist. With certified titans of the scene giving him rotation, if you don't know who he is, then you better get to work digging through those digital and vinyl crates. Bombastic amen assaults with unrivalled party energy await. 
The opening track, Catch a Contact is a straight-up hip hop sampling hostile beat down. Imagine being precision punched above the nose with either a drum beat or saturated bass stab in quick succession. Don't be fooled by the use of aggressive metaphors here, it's not a breakcore, nor dark side DnB track, it's just perfectly agro party-jungle.
Busta Domes follows up with a much more flowing feel that is hard to not get lost in, grooving about with a windy ole neck. It hints at subtle juke and footwork flavours, but not enough so you would take it out of the 'big vibey jungle' section in the record shop. The rapid array of rhythm switch-ups and masterful edits keep you on your toes but give you enough space to loosen up into a groove. 

We predict Pump Action may end up being the "people's A-side" by the time summer gets here. Lush, classic jungle pads open it up and lead you gradually into a raving-whirling-dervish. Sirens, a 4/4 sub kick hardcore section, female vocal gates and ragga samples might all sound like trope overload, but not how he uses them. His expertise in his own style and energy is as always, completely refreshing.
There aren't enough Algorithmic records or recorded DJ sets but god damn will we try and put out as many as we can because people just want more.... with their jaw on the floor!

Myself and Smyla first collaborated on my album, 'Tank Alligator'. In the 10 years that have passed since then, i largely had to rane in my once prolific, relentless avalanches of material, so i could focus on improving my mental illness and health issues.

Well, the time has come to return to my old ways of making all of the musics all of the times, and, im starting with OFJ! ...and im starting with the most criminally underrated producer in Drum and Bass, Smyla.

Last time we became form of Voltron, I supplied the kick drums and he supplied the amens ...Simples!

With this release however, weve gone solo to cook up our own, unique monsters. Breaky drum and bass at its most heavy and darkside.

Hold on to your butts ...because were coming for your heads ...and if your holding your butts, well, youre not protecting your neck, are you, so youre heads will be easy pickings.

This is the sound of 2 distinct beasts in 1 distinct jungle ...and it really is just the tip of the iceberg.
