I’m sort of old school, trying to live my life,
but it’s changing so fast I’m going cross-eyed.    
I wish I had all of the things that I see on my screen.
I never seem to be happy without them in my room.

Looking at the screen with the blinds all the way down.
I go outside and spend a bit of time looking at my phone,
while the beautiful world passes me by.  
Shopping online oh ya.  
Pretty girl gives me a smile,
but I’m staring at my phone waiting for a reply.

I’m so material.  Just want a little more.
Forget the mindfulness.  We want to consume it all.

Spending money I don’t have,
then spend a little more.
until the bills eat me alive; 
while the world buzzin’ like a beehive.
Not sure how I’m going to survive.
Never enough to satisfy.

Thrill of the purchase, 
done with the splurging,
telling myself I need to pull the reins.
Lights a flashing; ad enticement;
much excitement; cash exchanged.

Never seen a moment, like this. 
Like a drug in the veins, such bliss.
but it’s more than that,
We’re all matter of fact,
Missing that something that resonates.
