Un endroit insolite

C’est une bicoque toute en pierres
Surplombée de montagnes
Perchée là-haut dans les airs
Où des oiseaux ricanent

Quelques arbres et de l’herbe
Des fleurs pour décorer
Le rendu est superbe
Tout est coloré

C’est un endroit insolite, qui se trouve loin de tout 
Pas vraiment le grand confort, mais de la chaleur humaine 
De l’amour sans compter et un décor de fou
Et pour voir les étoiles, on s’allonge dans la plaine

Il y a une table pour midi
À carreaux jaune poussin
Ornée de broderies
Où trône déjà le pain

À côté, une falaise
Nous offrant une belle vue
Derrière, un beau mélèze
Très haut et bien trapu

Oui c’est un endroit bien tranquille
Où l’on se pose à deux
Loin du bruit de la ville
Et de son train-train cafardeux

Un endroit insolite, loin de tout 
Pas vraiment de confort, mais de la chaleur humaine 
Et de l’amour sans compter et un décor de fou
Et pour voir les étoiles, on s’allonge dans la plaine

Golden love and golden days
Guess we had complacent ways
Thought that they were set in stone
Till we ended up all alone

The tower fell, foundations split
Still can't say what to make of it:
That special deal we can't get back
And every day I feel the lack

We just couldn't keep our El Dorado
So we let it slowly slip away
That sun-kissed, endless lush estado (state)
That never saw a dismal day

Somehow reality just crept in
It pained us so and it felt like sin
Although it cuts me up inside
I'll take it all in my stride

Is it the same when you hear my name
Or are you playing another fleeting game
Am I a stranger now your life has changed
And our past has been rearranged

We didn't maintain our El Dorado
And we let it slowly slip away
We let it slide into pasado (the past)
Now all I see is a cloudy day

Bridge:

I'm drinking to our El Dorado
Its memory forever shining bright 
It never was ill-favoured maldonado (unlucky)
While lighting up the deepest shades of night
