I Wont Quit

In the Christmas story, the wise men come from the East and follow the star of Bethlehem.
Once there, they ask:
- Where is he?
- The newborn and King of the Jews
- We have come to pay homage to him

King Herod has learnt that a rival has been born and orders an infanticide
Thanks to a warning from an angel, Mary and Joseph are able to leave for Egypt with the child in time.

The angels flap their wings together to remind the bumblebee of its colony

In winter, only the bumblebee queens from a bumblebee colony survive
Workers and drones die. Only the queen hibernates in a hole in the ground and has a reserve of honey to feed on.

Bumblebees have probably been around for 25 million years.
Mankind and its religions have only existed for a few thousand.
If bees and bumblebees are wiped out, the impact on flora and fauna will be so serious that the mass of humanity will probably only be able to survive for a few years.
So we should definitely pray for the preservation of bees and bumblebees.

Someone, turned our world into white
With something, that can protect and hide
The panful loss of the sunny days, from last summer
Now it's time to play with our tiny tin toy drummers

It seems that everything is covered by a blanket
Completely embraced, cosily protected
All our worries are forgotton and our life is full of hope
Our world is slowing down, it seems to be enclosed in a snow globe

But I often think of someone, who is not mentioned in our tales
It has been in our world, much longer, than the Christchild himself
There is no sacrifice, of grains and seeds, as we give to the birds
With her golden treasure, made of honey, she would only feel disturbed

The lonely home for the Queen of the Bumblebees
Is a homely hole, deep under our Christmas tree
Where she's counting the days backwards til spring
And she's dreaming of a world, that will be greening again

And then the angels will ask: "Where is she"?
"Who has been born as the Queen of the Bumblebees"?
For we have seen her star, far in the east
And we have come down to earth, to worship her

And when the angels start sing, they buzzing with their wings
She senses cohesion and presence of her colony again
And thanked them, for giving shelter, to her family, in heaven 
On a flowerpollen cloud 

Now the flowers have faded and for the few that have gone 
To sleep underground, a hard time has come
Two feet under in the peat on this christmas eve 
- So alone!

Sometimes, when you feel lonely, in your heart
Remind the Bumblebee, she sleeps, abandon and apart
The scent of gingerbread and marzipan, cannot convince or seduce her
She waits for crocuses and snowdrops, that herald the end of winter

And she's, the one, who doesn't care what you believe
Mohammed, Jesus, Buddha or just any insane shopping disease
No gold, no myrrh or frankincense, in homage to someone
Pray for the Bumblebees instead, before it's all worthless when she's gone
