This spring saw seasoned XYZ contributor Koelle team up with multi-instrumentalist Reza Safinia on Reverie, a two-sided offering which saw the union of electronic tones and orchestral influences into a dance floor affair. Today's Premiere is by Vancouver based producer Jesse Bru. Released through French imprint Egoplanet, his latest offering, the "Roach Fingers" EP, features four tracks of raw yet elaborate house music. Take the title track here : a clever use of samples, solid beats, syncopated Rhodes parts, the Canadian producer distils proper late night warehouse groove through your ears and body. The vinyl is out just in time for Christmas, get it while you can, this will definitely grow on you!

The corridor seemed endless as the bell buzzed in his ear. Leaving school was his favourite time of the day, such attention to detail in concentrated spells left him feeling numb and dry. As he walked through the wooden doors out into the daylight he could hear the sound of screams and chants from the nearby playground. He remembered the innocence of youth, back before exams, house parties and ate nights. He had never imagined himself to be a teacher, yet here he was lecturing the youth of tomorrow with the knowledge of today. Walking home he sighed. 

Scissorwork is set to release his first EP on the recently founded record label The Other Planet. He delivers four cuts of dreamy house and dusty grooves.

Premiere: Zone+ & Usif - Tule (Original Mix) [Dream Culture]

Houses in Motion presents their fourth offering from their solo EP series, this time from Adelaide’s own Subjoi. Titled Flashing Lights (HIM004), this curation is a selection of woozy melodic House coated in a Lo-Fi patina. Vocal cuts and driving percussion permeate three original tunes exploring the scope of moods, from deep slow-burners to exploding dance floor starters. The title track edit, ‘Flashing Lights’, punctuates it all with oozing soulful vocal samples and a riff catchy in its simplicity. Here, Subjoi brings together four pieces of ol’ faithful type House joints for club rooms and easy listening alike.

Exclusive Solstice feat. Lea Luxanima 'Fall (Ivory Mantra Rework)'

Music is poetry in notes and Berlin based label Poesie Musik releases one of these musical pieces that is destined to leave a lasting impression on the dance floors. Parisian artist Solstice is responsible for the aforementioned release that simply goes by the name of 'Yelrih One' and includes aside from the original version of 'Fall' three remixes from Juan, Anton Dhouran and Italian wonderboy Ivory. The latter turns the original into an ultimate dance floor weapon by poetically working the haunting vocals into synth-sequences that keep grooving over a lush bass line and exhibit minimal changes throughout the track so that the final result is an on-going, rich in soundscapes and complex take representing the beauty of club music. 

Solstice's EP 'Yelrih One' will be released on Poesie Musik March 8th, 2019.

Release Info:
Mulya and Sobek author our next Chapter, reprising a creative relationship which has already borne significant fruit. Their work has seen them find a home together with labels including Monaberry and TAU, while they have been picked up individually by imprints including Bedrock and Get Physical.

Here they offer three big hitters. Title track Mirrored Screen opens things in style, its chunky afro techno groove offset by an enigmatic synth line and a choppy single note pattern that is laden with tension. Tribal vocals add to the mix before the main hook opens out and satisfyingly hits home.

Shaking Hands is the follow up, built around a distorted, pitching percussive groove for a determinedly heads down, wild affair that is bound to move the dancefloor.

Rounding things off, Hard Curve is just as heavyweight. Equally moody and foreboding as it is hypnotic and driving, it comes paired with an Edition by breakout artist Rinzen (mau5trap). Rinzen's rework is progressive and euphoric, communicating and deploying a sense of scale that is reminiscent of classic Sasha or Stephan Bodzin.

Rinzen's Edition makes for a fitting closer to a very strongly rounded EP from Mulya and Sobek.

The phone had been ringing off the hook all morning, each time he chose to ignore it. He'd debated unplugging it at the mains but the repercussions would be even worse than they already were. He knew that not answering wouldn't help him in the long run, but right now he couldn't face it. He would continue to live by the notion that what he didn't know couldn't hurt him.

Manchester party Off Beat make their first steps into the label world, launching a new platform to share their love of UK bass culture. For the inaugural outing, they've enlisted the talents of Breaka who's previous releases for Desert Sound Colony's Holding Hands, his own Breaka Recordings and Leeds' Stretchy Dance Supply have caused quite a stir since 2018. Titled The Startup, the two-tracker moves from UK bass grooves and warm subs on the A Side to jungle-inspired breaks on the flip; a perfect indicator of what we can expect from the newly-founded imprint in future.
