I think that might be the introvert/extrovert thing. To me self-care can be a form of recharging and some folks do recharge in the company of others.

I have thin walls in my apartment building and a trash ass neighbor that doesn't understand the concept of "turn down". I gotta find me some good headphones to meditate. Like, dude barks to jazz songs :-|. Yes. Barks. Like "Arf, Arf"-ass barking. #pleasejustmove

There might be something to that! I find when I get out the shower and after all the lotions and oils I kinda wanna just sit like that in my bed. I did that once on a weekend, did my stretches and I felt so relaxed after! I forgot all about that until just now, thanks for the reminder! LOL!

I'm so sorry you have to deal with that! That's exactly what happens too, these medical "professionals" misinterpret and all of a sudden you're ripped from your family. That side of the coin doesn't get talked about often, where poc DO reach out and they get lost in the medical industrial complex forever because of a misdiagnosed due to society not seeing our humanity. There's a real fear attached to reaching out. Not seeing the humanity in black and brown people specifically is so ingrained and it manifest so much in white dominated mental professions. @blackloudproud shared her experience in trying to reach out when she called a hotline and she almost got lost in a mental institution because the operator overacted. *sigh* It's a fucking lot and so compounding. Yet so many doctors can go their whole professional training and career never having to learn about this or unpack it.

Damn, these kids are not playing. Kudos to them & Miguel!

Tell me why I still struggle between self care and escapism. I started writing my reasons but the comment was getting too long. But yeah, there's a fine line that I realize I cross a little too often. I've found a therapist I want to connect with, so I'm making some phone appointment with my insurance company on covering it :-) Great show ladies!
