The Ornithology EP is an exploration of our relationship with birds as their closest neighbors. The more and more I indulge in electronic music, the closer I have become with my surroundings. 
Through auditory stimulation and understanding of my relationship with nature, the city brings about few, but poignant moments I can experience with living animals. Birds have always been some of the most common animals, besides humans, experienced on a daily basis. Taking from my surroundings, I wanted to capture some different elements to those creatures. 
Each track presented has a key intended component relating to birds. 

Thank you for listening and supporting my ideas thus far. I am excited to have the opportunity to make dance music with a theme/concept, where I feel most music should come from. The execution of this EP was important to me as I feel the market in saturated with forgettable music, my own often falling into that category. Here’s to more concepts!

“Floq Bird”
This track is inspired by the Bird Tunnel series held under a bridge, with a mural of birds, here in Columbus. As we all find our floq, this track was made with the intention of portraying my gratitude for that series and the sense of calm you feel when you’ve found your floq.

“Walking with Penguins”
Penguins have burst into the mainstream canon, with films and documentaries doing them a great service, placing them with importance to protect through our impact on environment… But mostly this bouncy garage-inspired track sways back and forth with a call-and-answer of two silly penguins flopping towards each other.

“The Moa is Coming”
The massive pre-historic bird, the Moa, native to New Zealand until 1300 AD, invokes a very ominous feeling as I tried to re-create what indigenous people may have seen or heard of these beasts. On a radio station segment titled “Aotearoa's Extinct Birds: The Call of The Moa” they tried to recreate the sounds of what this giant bird could sound like, naturally I sampled that bit and put it into this acid-tinged stomper track.

Part two of the idea, the feeling of accepting your fate before you bring in the next day… birds chirping outside, maybe you’re not going to bed… either way… acceptance. You are with the birds now. Minimal grooves. Minimal feelings.

“Before the Birds”
This is the first part of a two part idea, conjuring a feeling (or set of feelings) any common party-goer may understand. Before the birds, is aptly named after the feeling of trying to get home before birds start chirping… a phenomenon that can either start a stressful night of lying awake, or place unto one’s mind a sense of anxiety of the preceding events that lead to this late-night. No matter the feelings it invokes, a sense of urgency was meant to be portrayed into one of the first “techno” tracks I’ve ever put out.
