SAFETY TRANCE’s 2022 debut on Boysnoize Records found a runaway hit in “El Alma Que Te Trajo,” an industrial reggaeton number with machine-gun-flow vocals from ARCA. Since then, the Venezuela-born, Barcelona-based producer’s razor sharp toolkit of dark atmospheres, menacing rave leads and deconstructed dembow beats has made him an increasingly in-demand remixer and collaborator for reggaeton artists (LA GOONY CHONGA, LA FAVI, MJ NEBREDA) and experimental club producers (SEGA BODEGA, MANUKA HONEY, BRODINSKI) alike. Now, SAFETY TRANCE drops his most audacious—and polished—work yet with “On 1,” alongside pop-surrealist DORIAN ELECTRA.

The track literally crashes in with an ominous, detuned synth line and a swelling, horror film drone before ripping into action with a death march bassline and dembow drums. The melody is only two notes, yet the track feels dense and electric as SAFETY TRANCE deftly builds an architecture of layered harmonics, dissonance, metallic textures, psychedelic effects and breakbeat flourishes.  DORIAN ELECTRA’s dizzying, syncopated delivery warps and bends between mumble and moan, drilling deep into the subconscious mind like violent ASMR. The arrangement, however, pushes the experience over the red line, with hallucinatory switch-ups, stutters and chops that transmute into gunshots, certain to be mimicked by the crowd with fingers up. As erotic as it is apocalyptic, “On 1” is a rewind and re-rewind ready anthem for a rave at the end of the world. It couldn’t be released at a better time.

Ten years ago, ‘We Are Your Friends’ reached our ears and pushed Justice to the front of the scene, a young French duo signed by Pedro Winter on the label he had just created: Ed Banger Records. The record that followed,✝, was an album of condensed jerky electro, of disco reminiscences and heavy metal energy, with unstoppable tunes like ‘D.A.N.C.E’, ‘Stress’ and ‘Phantom’, and its videos, allowed Justice to follow the 90’s French Touch and its filtered disco loop. 

Since the release of their debut album in 2007, Justice has been tirelessly touring the world by bus, road festival to festival and concerts all over throughout the planet. Since their first tour, the band developed a powerful stage design that they polished and magnified throughout the years and the gigs. The wall of vintage Marshall amps front of the stage, an imposing cross, impressive light shows, and the sound of Justice totally revisited for the live shows.
