Our eleventh Hideouscast is a breaks and electro mix from Kerouac (KRS Two) AKA Mike Kerouac, half of Kerouac and SMILE.

Back in 2007 Isaac SMILE contacted Mike Kerouac on MySpace asking to remix a Kerouac track, the aforementioned remix never materialised, but what did was a friendship that would lead to the formation of Kerouac & SMILE. At the time Isaac was a resident at Micron in Manchester, at steadily building up a fearsome reputation as an excellent warm-up Dj. He invited Kerouac to play a live set in 2008 to support H.O.S.H and more slots followed.

Kerouac started out predominantly as a live act, having secured remixes on labels such as Treibstoff and Hypercolour, and gained Dj support of his tracks from Laurent Garnier, Layo & Bushwacka! ,Anja Schneider and more.

It wasn't until 2012 that they first went back to back on the decks, at a Micron birthday party at Joshua Brooks, Manchester. Shortly after that they decided to start producing together. Their ethos is all about solid, grooving, underground music, describing tunes their tracks as functional and groovy. Tracks that don't need to have massive breakdowns, snare rolls and white noise build ups.

In 2015 the guys were lucky enough to be asked to play 3 hour set in Room1 at Fabric for the excellent WetYourSelf, an experience that they will never forget. This gave them the opportunity to build the sound and energy of the night right from nothing to peak time.

Over the last few years the guys have played numerous festivals and enjoyed releasing tracks on HedZup, Blind Vision, Music Related, Sustain, Frost Plates, Haas Records and more.

In recent years Kerouac has produced as another duo, KRS Two with Adam Ross notching up several releases so far . During lockdown Isaac has started the DJ set streaming channel Acidhouse FM on Twitch and Mixcloud.

For our first HAWSMIX of 2022 we hand over the reins to a mighty French record digger and house producer who goes by the name of @Admo. Having caught our attention a couple of years ago with his incredible standout release on Substra, we’ve been nagging Adrien to record a mix for us ever since. Mostly consisting of rare 90’s records collected from around Europe, ranging from old school tech house and trancey bits, a slither of dub, and some early 2000’s slammers chucked in for good measure. This mix delivers the goods no doubt.

Future jazz, house, minimal, breaks... that's what Madezh cooked for us on this 13th episode of our podcast series! The Croatian legend played solid records for the listening pleasure, perfectly matching with this summer vibes.

Madezh is an open minded DJ who is constantly evolving and does not solely stick to genres like techno, house, etc... but defines music as what is good and what is bad by leaving it to the emotions of what the crowd is feeling at that certain moment on the dance-floor.

His career began in 2002 by DJing at clubs and events later to become part of the crew of Underground Control between the years of 2006-2011. In 2013 he founded with some friends "Cruise Split", and played an integral part in restarting a somewhat sleepy scene in Split.

Patrick started his journey as a dj in the early 90's playing at many of the early underground rave parties in San Francisco and was a resident at many parties at various clubs over the years. He's currently a resident dj for Prime8 Radio streaming platform based in the US. Over the years, Patrick has stayed true to his craft as a vinyl-only dj and is still today a passionate collector of electronic music. His early influences were Doc Martin, Jeno, Garth, and Chicago icons Derrick Carter, Di Sneak, Mark Farina and minimal pioneers Ricardo Villalobos and many others."

A DJ of 17 years, Justin's style is heavily influenced by his early years growing up in the Florida Breaks scene in the late 90's and early 2000's, living in Europe for a couple years (notably his visits to Lisbon, Portugal), and more recently living on the US West Coast in Seattle and now San Francisco. He recently launched the Oopsie Dayzee monthly day party at Mars Bar, San Francisco. For 7yrs when he lived in Seattle, Justin was a Viva Recordings Resident DJ for the monthly THIS! party at Monkey Loft, Seattle. 

Justin is deeply passionate about honoring the history and tradecraft of deejaying, witnessed by his obsessive vinyl digging addiction and all vinyl sets. His approach as a DJ is to weave through many genres, a kind of journey through historical and contemporary sounds and styles of electronic music. As such, his style is hard to class as this or that, and that's just way he likes it. The fundamental role of electronic music based in its roots, is the ability for it to tear down the little boxes that constrain our growth as a human race and instead open up new doors of perception necessary to advance. At the end of the day, What you can expect from Justin is his superb selections skillfully presented in a way to make you move and groove, and on occasion to think a little differently about the concept of music.
