Ever since we first opened our doors, Radioactive Man (aka Keith Tenniswood) has been part of the family. He was among the first artists lined up to contribute to our album series where he fully demonstrated the weight of his take on electro - the genre he is best known for working within. Not to say this is a fully accurate representation of his sound, he's made it his own with its own distinct identity - spinning in elements of the jungle sound of his native London into his sonic palette. His latest album project Luxury Sky Garden shows this is full effect. Just announced last week, the first track to be unveiled in full, Steve Chop was a meticulously beat-programmed amen celebration. 

Today we've been offered up a second cut to stream in full, Ism Schism which shows off a slightly deeper angle to the release and Tenniswood's ability to present an emotive level of warmth on the dance floor alongside an engaging funk-ridden groove. This all neatly lands in time for his next visit to Room Two where he's set to DJ on a bill that also includes Miami bass pioneer Egyptian Lover and Detroit's Derek Plaslaiko.

Emma Blake grew up in Glasgow, but the origins of her artistic career can be traced to Copenhagen. A few years ago she moved to the Danish capital for her studies, and a discovery of the local techno scene quickly led to her playing regularly at clubs like Culture Box. Usually this would involve spinning a mix of hard-and-fast techno and acid as one quarter of the much-loved Apeiron Crew, but the last twelve months have seen Blake gaining recognition beyond the collective. 

Blake’s offbeat studio work has played a part in this rapid ascent: her glitchy electro tracks have come out on labels like Outer Zone and Brokntoys, she regularly collaborates with Ctrls as Historical Repeater, and earlier this month Modeselektor used her pulsating cut 'Masha' for their 'Modeselektion Vol. 04' compilation. She joins them for Modeselektion with us on 16th June, so ahead of the date she sent a mix that highlights her love of broken techno and electro.

When Paul Woolford adopted his Special Request alias again last year for the 'Belief System' album, we kind of lost our shit. The LP was one of our favourites of 2018 and once again cemented Woolford as a certified master of the scene.

At the end of the year we crowned Nina Kraviz as our DJ of the Year and ultimately it was an easy decision to make. Her sets are electric, her label, трип, is one of the most forward-thinking and genre-bending imprints in the world and her parties buck the formulaic trend that most follow.

When we found out that Nina was remixing 'Curtain Twitcher' by Special Request, we jumped at the chance to listen. When we realised she'd done not one but two remixes, well we were sold.

Here is the premiere of Kraviz's Alice Was Here remix and it's more of the brilliant same. A true meeting of magical minds.

After an incredible CLOSE Tour in Paris, Glasgow and London we are leading into another crazy week, the annual Amsterdam ADE conference.  This year is a special one for me as I’ll be doing a special extended set on Friday October 19th  for Loveland's new All-Nighters concept at Warehouse Houthavens, which gives me plenty of time to weave in and out of lots of special sounds, frequencies and rhythms.  To get you through the week here is the recording of my BPM festival set from just a few weeks ago, which will surely get you in the mood and give you a taste of what to expect on Friday night!
