"Geisha girls" were Japanese women who worked as prostitutes (not entertainers) during the period of the Allied Occupation of Japan. They almost exclusively serviced American GIs stationed in the country, who referred to them as "Geesha girls" (a mispronunciation).

These women dressed in kimono and imitated the look of geisha. Many Americans unfamiliar with the Japanese culture could not tell the difference between legitimate geisha and these costumed performers. Shortly after their arrival in 1945, some occupying American GIs are said to have congregated in Ginza and shouted, "We want geesha girls!"

Eventually, the term "geisha girl" became a general word for any female Japanese prostitute or worker in the mizu shobai and included bar hostesses and streetwalkers.

Geisha girls are speculated by researchers to be largely responsible for the continuing misconception in the West that all geisha are engaged in prostitution.

The term geisha literally translates to mean "entertainer". Some prostitutes refer to themselves as "geisha", but they are not. A geisha's sex and love life is usually distinct from her professional life. A successful geisha can entertain her male customers with music, dance, and conversation.

Geisha learn the traditional skills of dance and instruments and hold high social status. Geisha are single women, though they may have lovers or boyfriends whom they have personally picked, who support them financially.

Music is all I really have. Nothing else. I lie, okay, I got family & friends too.

When I first joined soundcloud I used to produce under the brand 'ASTRO' (Always Selecting The Rebellious Option), but I scrapped the soundcloud page when it had about 3500 followers, because I was unhappy with an average of 35 likes per song, I felt like I was becoming a slave to statistics so I wanted to just start again. Also I was using a small robot as an avatar which came from the game Little Big Planet but I wouldn't be able to represent that if I were to play a live set, so I wanted a brand that was free of character based imagery.

I picked the brand 'Origami', which later became 'Xrigami' as that was a more unique google search term. I still have a bunch of music on soundcloud under that brand, although I don't use that brand anymore for new music.

Most recently I presented music with the brand 'Poledance Vampires', and the latest one I came up with was '36 Hours To Live'.

I've learned to make music in a lot of different genres... Hip Hop & RnB, then Progressive House, Electrohouse, Complextro, Dubstep, Drumstep, Big Room, Moombahcore, DnB, French House, Glitch-hop, Alternative Electronica, Breakbeat & Trap.

I'm inspired by the life of Van Gogh, because his art was respected after he died, so I'm able to make music even if I don't see it get the recognition I naively imagined when I started.

I surprise a handful of Soundclouders with a profile on what inspires me about their work.  What excites me most is that other people have started to tell the stories of the people artists who inspire them through the "One Million Stories" project we created.   

We also started a Dance Party in our house every night where we throw up a Soundcloud DJ set and my wife, three kids dance, in-laws and I dance together for 30 minutes.  Since we are having so much fun, we plan on inviting guest DJs to work live and broadcast the parties live on Youtube so other families can participate.  

Life is a constant creation.
