Following on from the successful release of ‘Basic Colour Theory: Remixed’ in March, Catz n’ Dogz announce their latest EP ‘Upsi Bubsi'. The duo's first release of 2016 welcomes the New Year in true Catz n Dogz fashion with two tracks EP is a fruitful twist of cosmic melodies mixed under the duo's trademark heavy tech-house styled bass and percussion. 

The EPs’ opening and title track ‘Upsi Bubsi' is a certified floor filler from the get go. The track opens with a thunderous mix of 909 loops alongside a repeated throb of intense arpeggiated bass. The track is peppered with splurges of crashing cymbals, rolling toms and the hypnotic looped vocal whispering ‘don't stop'; a track clearly engineered for the dance floor. As the track builds, we are greeted with Egyptian styled keys, an unusual choice of sounds for most indeed, but a skill that we have become accustomed to in many of the duo’s productions. 

‘Elixir' offers a different experience to its counterpart with a collage of rising melodic chords and an 808 break beat. The track is a beautiful arrangement of graceful choir sounding melodies over warm sub-bass chords, seemingly inspired by early 90's Detroit. The track takes full form introducing tribal drum patterns alongside splashes of keys and styled cosmic percussion. The track is a testament to the producer’s creative prowess, showcasing their broad abilities to tackle all styles and genres of dance music.

This release undoubtedly highlights Catz N’ Dogz’ arsenal of talent in creating two very unique but equally as strong productions. Both possess the quality and pedigree of the duo's back catalogue and are set to command the globe’s top dance floors.

It's not a surprise that the two would gel, both thanks to their happy-go-lucky ​personalities and their thunderous, bass beat sounds. After working in the studio together, what's arrived is a two-track EP titled 'Ol' Dirty Hearts', an ode not only to each of their label homes (Desert Hearts and Dirtybird), but also to the rare sample from rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard on the title track.

What's Up Desert Hearts Family...

The next EP on Desert Hearts Records comes from Label Boss, Mikey Lion, along with self proclaimed sloth look-a-like and Dirtybird player, Sacha Robotti. The two first met back in 2015 while playing at Dirtybird Campout, but it wasn't until 2016 when the two of them moved to Los Angeles (Sacha from Berlin and Mikey from San Diego) did the two really hit it off. The boys soon found themselves in the studio together and the resulting EP titled "Ol' Dirty Hearts" turned out to be a monster that blends the artists' love for Hip Hop and banging Tech House. The title track is an absolute bomb that utilizes a rare, unused ODB sample to perfection. The crazed build up is matched with a grinding bass synth to bring mass hysteria to any dance floor. The B-Side titled "Flip The Joint" is a much housier bounce track that's sure to take any vibe from opening duties to full on party time. Delayed hits on a swung out bassline make this the perfect B-Side to the madness on the A-Side.

Now he’s back on fellow Detroit native Carl Craig’s Planet E with his second album for the imprint that focuses on the essence of his home city, from its past struggles to its current resurgence. 
 
With a distinct piano melody, sultry vocals and a driving rhythm, ‘Just Like Musik’ is an instant classic. Parker touched on how the development of the track is rooted in his passion: “Inspired by Erick Sermon's use of the Marvin Gaye sample, this track really came to life once Merachka put her vocal touch on it. The message is metaphoric in music to love and love to music”.

Floorplan delivers two excellent reinterpretations of Radio Slave ‘Feel The Same’, the title track from the Rekids founder’s forthcoming album.

Made up of former Underground Resistance member Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric, the Detroit duo needs little introduction and last year saw the release of their illustrious album ‘Victorious’ on Hood’s M-Plant.

The first remix of ‘Feel The Same’ extends to eight minutes long and is a journey; incorporating echoing chords, intricate percussion and a medley of esoteric effects whilst cackling laughter ebbs in and out of the mix. Meanwhile, the flip sees a more up front interpretation with its heady hook, rolling drums and energetic claps.

Recently our demo inbox has been overflowing so we cleared it out, selected the best of the best and created a new compilation series called Traffic Jams. Anyone who's visited our home city of Los Angeles understands the struggle. We could let it get the best of us, or rather, choose to celebrate by cranking up the system. Even in a complete standstill on the 101! 

The series name itself is a fun one that was crowd-sourced on Matthew Anthony's social pages. With some great runners-up like Road Rage, Cruise Control, Riders On The Storm and D.U.I. (Dancing Under the Influence), ultimately the winning title in most peoples eyes was Traffic Jams, coming from our guy Travis Emmons, an artist we previously released a few years back, and again today on PDM099. 

The compilation offers an array of Tech House tracks. There's a few new artists to Perfect Driver including Skinnybit, More Than Friends with OMNOM, Mancodex, Dking, DJ Susan, AYAREZ as well as some favs like A Fox, Travis Emmons, Holt 88 and Matthew Anthony.
