Kiasmos mark their return in 2017 with a new 12” EP titled Blurred — available worldwide on October 6th via Erased Tapes.

Since their 2015 Swept EP, the duo have been performing shows extensively across the world. After writing and recording together in their native Iceland this year, the pair will be bringing a glimpse of light to a particularly gloomy time of year as their light sounds are brighter than ever.

My homie, Josh Taylor, opened me up to the world of writing songs. It's such a scary/vulnerable thing, but I've found it to be just as cathartic and nourishing as letting loose on the dance floor. Can't Hang is one of the first songs I wrote and sang. It came out of me at a time where I wasn't exactly on cloud nine. 

It's been crazy times. These days, I frequently find myself getting overwhelmed, stressed out, or disenchanted about things. It's easy to get negative and divisive, but that's where I think music can be so powerful and important. It brings people together and makes us feel good. That's what this song's about for me.

Feels incredible to be releasing my Debut Album, it's been such a long process and such a long challenge it kind of felt like this day would never come, but it did.

Conceptually the album is about romanticizing a naive world view. That naiveness and ignorance is something to be cherished. There's something really beautiful about the perfect worldview you have as a kid, that the world is harmless, beautiful and good. The more you learn and experience though the more you realise everything isn't perfect. So the less you know the more beautiful it is, it's the things we haven't done, the places we don't know, that have this unquestionable beauty to it. it's this world i'm trying to mirror with my album, the one that stays in your imagination.

Musically i knew i wanted to do a sonic representation of the concept, blending worldly sounds with small bedroom type samples and soundscapes. I really loved the idea of those two polarizing things being the two main factors that would lay the ground for the album.
