Rising newcomer Justin Peng and Brussels-based producer jabeau have teamed up to release a neo-soul track, "Lost & Not Found." The song is about being blinded by love, knowingly being taken for granted, but struggling to let go. “We must know not all stories have a happy ending, and often when feelings are lost, it’s hard to get them back,” says Justin. 

The creative collaboration between Justin and jabeau came about through TikTok, where they both discovered each other's talent and quickly started a long-distance project. Shortly after their first online meeting, they met in London and recorded and produced the song in just one day. The result is a perfect blend of Justin's silky-smooth R&B vocals and jabeau's jazzy production. 

Vogue China has named Justin as the "Rising Newcomer" and he has been highly praised by industry leaders such as Nichole Scherzinger for his vocal control and Sam Smith, who said, "the world needs to hear your voice!" Justin's musical influences include Stevie Wonder, George Michael, Bruno Mars, and JJ Lin, offering a smooth combination of R&B and Pop.

jabeau, on the other hand, is a classically trained pianist and guitarist who has always been interested in composition. The producer later studied music at Abbey Road Institute. His main influences include Flume, Underscores, Anomalie, Getter, and Jacob Collier from whom he borrows jazz harmony, electronic sound design techniques, etc.

As the singer dives deep into his British-Asian upbringing and queer identity struggles, the song perfectly captures the duality of emotions he feels, torn between the sadness of family separation and the anticipation of returning to London where he truly feels belongs. 

The production embraces simplicity, Justin’s soulful vocal is accompanied by an acoustic guitar, allowing the raw emotions of the lyrics to shine. Written at the airport after saying goodbye to his family, the song begins with a voice message from his niece and ends with his mother singing a well-known Chinese folklore, making the song more intimate and special.

After winning a Chinese Central Television (CCTV) talent competition: Bravo Youngsters (华彩少年）in 2020, Justin is swiftly making his mark, Vogue China named him the “Rising Newcomer”, Nichole Scherzinger highly praised his soulful vocal control, whereas Gary Barlow complemented that: “You have great potential”. As a songwriter, Justin has also written for the closing ceremony song (bilingual version) for the 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou in 2023 and the the opening ceremony song for Henan Province Culture and Tourism Conference in 2024. After his sold-out London headline show at the Grace (150 capacity) in May 2024, and his festival debut at the Sound City Liverpool (5000 capacity), Justin is gearing up for his 2025 London headline show at the Lower Third, on the 8th of February, and he will be performing at Mighty Hoopla 2025, on Sunday the 1st of June.

Originally from a traditional Chinese family, Justin moved to the UK alone at the age of 13. With a lack of familial support, growing up was extremely tough. Music and song writing became the emotional outlet for Justin to navigate his feelings and struggles. In his upcoming debut EP, "Growing Out" showcases Justin’s artistic evolution and features songs written and performed in both English and Mandarin Chinese. The EP delves into his British-Asian upbringing, the struggles of accepting one’s identity, the sad reality of family separation, and the feelings of alienation experienced as a first-generation immigrant.

Justin is ready to take his place. Like Rina Sawayama and Griff, he wishes to bring the underrepresented East-Asian talent to the forefront through his music, represent his communities by creating a space where diverse voices are heard and celebrated, and inspire others to pursue their passions relentlessly.
