A performance of a lovely arrangment of Gershwin's 'Embraceable You' played live at the Royal Albert Hall 2010 with the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines at the annual Mountbatten Festival of Music. Pleasure to play this lovely violin part!

This track was written By Olivier Milchberg and myself. We co-wrote the music together as a soundtrack to a French documentary film following a Clown as he travelled into extemely romote parts of China performing to the villages children. The clown himself gave us a very simple tune, and we provded several variations on it! Sofia Miguelez also collaborated with us playing accordion.

The  Barrell Dwarf

On this track I am playing the low Irish whistle. Olivier Milchberg is playing a really interesting Iranian instrument which provides the drone you can hear and also a melody line.

The Scottish Dwarf

Justin’s musical training began soon after he arrived in the UK from his native South Africa at the age of 7. He joined Gloucester cathedral choir and went on to St Mary’s Music School where he learnt violin, recorder and piano. On leaving school he quickly gained two professional qualifications - LLCM and LTCL in recorder and violin performance – both with distinction.

His career began with 6 years in the Royal Marines Band Service as saxophone player and principal solo violinist. He played sax in the big band, led the string quartet and symphony orchestra and won the Cassel Prize from the Worshipful Company of Musicians. He appeared as soloist in concerts around the world, for Her Majesty the Queen in 2006 and 2010 and at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2008. Pieces were specially commissioned for him to perform at the Mountbatten Festival of Music in the Royal Alert Hall three years in a row and he was featured on DECCA and NAXOS albums. His solo track from “Summon the Heroes” is still played on Classic FM.

In July 2011 Justin joined the lavish Cirque du Soleil production ZAiA in Macau, playing recorder, violin and Irish whistle and “flying” on ropes above the auditorium.

The following year he appeared as a multi-instrumentalist and actor in “Midnight at the Boar’s Head” (Fine Chisel Theatre), as a bluegrass fiddler at the 2012 Diamond Jubilee Pageant at Windsor Castle and as entertainer for Swan Hellenic cruises.

2013 saw Justin embark on a teaching project at the Qatar Military Music Academy. There he learnt the clarinet and developed an interest in world music and gypsy jazz. On leaving Doha he spent time in France collaborating on a score for the French television documentary “The Dwarf in China”.

Since returning to the UK in 2014 Justin has worked as an actor/musician on a growing number of productions - “Calamity Jane”, “The Kreutzer Sonata “, “The Depraved Appetite of Tarrare the Freak“, “The Witches” (where he was also musical director), Craig Revel Horwood’s “Sister Act” and the Leicester Curve production of “George’s Marvellous Medicine.” Justin also appears with Worthing Symphony Orchestra and The London Musical Theatre Orchestra and helps out in various pit orchestras when needed.

In 2016 Justin married his lovely wife, Lucy. Very soon he is to become a dad
