On the second installment for Len Faki’s newly founded platform Hardspace, the veteran producer 
goes back to vaults of his collection in order to unearth more hidden gems, turning them into tracks that can not only keep up with modern dancefloor standards, but even bring new life and audience to these personal favorite classics. 

Phuture’s Your Only Friend with its iconic lyrics was an absolute anthem back in the day and had a big impact on the young Len Faki. Being able to remix it himself was a very special experience, resulting in an equally strong and emotional Hardspace Mix. 

A standout of the early 2000s, Agent Wood by UK Gold still stands as a prime example of tribal techno. This remix builds on the original’s wild drumming sequence and gripping vocals, but manages to pack even more drive and the necessary extra oomph for today’s sound systems. 

The only more recent outing on Hardspace Vol. 2 is Base by young German producer A-STS. An extremely simple techno tool that had enough room for Hardspace to add many additional elements like more drums, a new breakdown and even a dubby synthline to completely transform the track towards...  more

The Lady Machine is back for another round of Podcast fun for Bassiani Podcast 266. Born in Rio, based in Berlin, Camila Milieme developed an ear for techno at a young age, attending Brazil’s Galaktika parties and picking up tracks from radio show Novas Tendencias before landing her first gig at the fresh age of 21, and at the famed Bunker 94 in São Paulo no less. Following studies in music production in the UK, she eventually landed in Berlin and channeled everything into a dual career as DJ/producer. Her vinyl sets were, are, contagious and brimming with rapid-fire basslines, relying heavily on the type of techno à la Detroit that has been so foundational to the genre without aging a day. These ones she’s published on Mote Evolver, half of Unterwegs with musicmate Decka and resident at free-spirited Berlin party series Pornceptual. A successful crowd-DJ alliance is no easy task, but twenty years of experience have sharpened her instinct for sound and the people she’s playing it to. Driving techno that lurches along on a razor edge, slamming rhythms that vibrate through the body, the magical and unquantifiable substance that allows the very best raves to coalesce. Whatever it is she has it in spades and this latest instalment proves it. This recent number’s a cut from her live set at Bassiani in mid April; rampant grooves and low-end layers picked, welded together and distorted by this singular Brazilian talent, and mastered by @neptunemastering. The Lady Machine’s chopped-up beats are a techno purist’s dream, this newest arrival makes it reality.

Bassiani invites The Lady Machine / Podcast #266

This was my first ever release and was on Cristian Vogel’s legendary Mosquito Records - It came out some 28 years ago in 1997! I’ve never really stuck to one particular sound and I guess I started as I meant to go on with this bizarrely titled EP. ‘Thick Soup’ is a fast live jam that was taken from one of my first ever live sets - arranged on the Yamaha W7 workstation, Boss DR660 drums and a basic EMU ESi-32 sampler. Flanged sounds sit over rolling percussion and the hats add some dynamic movement to the track towards the second half. ‘Melt Axiom’ is a stripped down Chicago inspired affair, again using basic FX to bring a unique flavour. ‘Deviant’ is still one of my favourites - and I think is the type of techno I love producing the most, just slow brooding, deep and atmospheric with processed vocals and an eerie vibe. ‘My Mad Uncle Umdegelehaylemech’ was an experiment in how far I could push the arrangement in the Yamaha workstation (programming by numbers) and is a tricky minimal funky track to close off the EP.
