Scene: Dublin 1817

A procession of beggars are led to howl outside the homes of Dublin’s wealthy to raise funds to help the poor. After this (very successful!) exercise, the Mendicity Institute was created to administer the money to Dublin’s neediest.



Hungerhowl

Scene: Dublin, Easter Monday, 1916
Bridewell Police Station

The Bridewell police station in Dublin is being searched by the Irish Volunteers 
and Volunteer Hubert Murphy (18 years) reports that they found two Lancers (English military) and, following the sound of music, two civilians in cells ; a woman arrested for vagrancy and a man for drunkenness. They have been unaware of the uprising around them and the woman has passed the time playing her concertina. The order is given to let them go.
The Volunteers spot a group of men and women carrying a looted piano, shots are fired over their heads, they drop the piano and make off!


What The Bridewell Saw

Scene: By the sea, near the Vico Road in Dalkey, Co.Dublin. 

Mad scientist De Selby brings Mick and Hackett to an underwater cave and introduces the spectre of St.Augustine who tells them:

“When Paul shows too much consate in himself, the great blatherskite with his epistles in bad Greek, the chronic two-timer, I sometimes roar after him 
‘You’re not on the road to Damascus now!’ Puts him in his place.”

You're Not On The Road To Damascus Now!

Ali and Lisa, two best friends from very different backgrounds. Desperate to get out of Dublin they lead each other by the nose to exotic beaches and bad decisions. Wrong place, wrong time. 
In this scene they are in Goa airport with some extra special ‘baggage’.
‘Wrapped’ premiered in the Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival 2014 in Smock Alley Theatre.

Zora

Scene: 1897 - Exchange Street Lower, Dublin
A narrow, cobbled, street packed with different trades, tenement houses and stables right beside the Liffey.
Annie and Frederick live in one room in No. 20, with their  five children. 
Two of the boys, Hubert and Robert, will go on to take part in the 1916 Rising - at 19 and 15 years of age.
