This down tempo/trip-hop track definately evokes a feeling of running for your life, especially when it goes drum&bass half way through. 

Running For Your Life

A 9 min. audio journey. Close your eyes, zone out, and listen.  
It's a 2 track (stereo) recording. The first track is a live, one-take improv recording of me jamming with the DroneLab, the OBGB, my hand-built synth, and a sequencer. The 2nd recorded track, also one-take improv, is the percussion loops which I created and mixed in real-time.
Added effects, adjusted EQ, and bounced to a master track with some panning sweeps. So listen with a good set of stereo speakers or headphones.

The Elastic Voyage: Breaks the dimensional barrier

This song came to me quite easily out of a single spark of inspiration. Though it is only just a handfull of loops, the way that they come together makes a very full sounding track.

Cycling white noise, detuned droning tones, dissonant arpeggios, random bleeps, time streched vocal samples, ghostly melodies, rich layered synth fx, odd-timed filtered percussion, and repeating patterns of the most unique other-worldy sounds; all seemlessly melting and changing as they weave through eachother.  23min. of a 2hr. improvised live one-take recording.

Solitude

Example of the sounds that the 1-Bit GrooveBox produces.   One take improv recording.     
     Noah Vawter, a Ph.D at MIT, created this device. He calls it the "1-Bit Groovebox". I purchased a kit from him, and built it in a wooden box that a pocket watch came in. This thing is amazing. It produces an infinite world of lo-fi Atari type sounds. There are two basic sections; a live jam mode, and a sequencing/looping section. Each with pitch, waveform, and 2 effects controls. Includes tap tempo, and 7 effects, as well as a super-brite multicolor LED that changes with the sound. It was a little confusing a first with only 10 buttons and 1 control knob+volume knob. Now that I figured out how to use this thing I am amazed at how much is in this tiny package.

Started working on this a couple hours ago and got excited; wanted to post a quick clip.

This one's a bit out there. A meditative piece, if you will, no melody, no beat, ....
    I used the set-up you see in the photo (minus the iPad). I spent about an hour getting all the oscillators tuned just right and matching the cycling of the detuned osc's with the other tempos.
Once I was satisfied, i turned down all the levels on the mixer, switched on some mood lighting, relaxed a moment, put on my headphones, pressed record, and went on a 42 minute journey. This track is the first 11:20 of a 42:00 recording. 1-take,live, improv.  
   I use the 1-Bit Groove box for an odd intro and some spice here and there. I have my sequencer's trigger out to the DroneLabs tremolo clock in, and passed thru, out to the SLMS, to trigger the envelope generator. The 2 oscillators of the SLMS are run thru a low-pass filter witch is controlled by the envelope generator, that is triggered by the sequencer.
There are 2 voices detuned a couple semitones coming from the WSG. Those run through a chorus like effect and then thru a low pass filter.
    At the heart of it all is the Drone Lab. This produces four basic square wave ocillators. Two of which are tuned a few semitones apart to produce a cycling effect. the other two are also slightly detuned but up a minor3rd. Each of the osc.'s can pass thru its own tremelo. The speed of which is adjustable through a division of the master tempo which set by the sequencer. The tremelo can also be inverted. All four voices then pass thru a distortion, low-pass filter, 2 band-pass filters, and a BPF balance. All of which are tweaked throughout the piece. I have yet to make a CV clock input for the 1-Bit GrooveBox, so I had trouble integrating it in with the rest of the symphony.
