Born in Vienna, Austria, but raised near the geographic centre of North America, Winnipeg, Sebastian Podsiadlo (a.k.a Justin Kace) began building his profile as a DJ through a series of well received dub techno focused podcasts that not only demonstrated a surprising amount of insight, restraint and polish for a DJ just establishing his sound, but also showcased Kace's ability to unearth tracks that built his own unique sonic palette. Through his precise mixing style and unwavering commitment to quality, he quickly caught the attention of promoters, podcast curators and radio producers from Rostock, Germany, Victoria, B.C. and in his hometown. He became a regular contributor to sHIFT Radio on 101.5 FM and Phase One Radio on 95.9 FM, two of the longest running techno radio shows on the prairies. Kace would also deliver a standout mix for dubtechnoblog.com, a podcast for Deep Afterhour and label retrospective for Silent Season.

Although Kace built his early audience with dubbed out, spacious techno, his sound would continue to evolve as he found more opportunities to unleash the groove oriented techno that he had increasingly been drawn to.

Looking to help shape and influence the electronic community with what was happening around him, he formed Dualbeat Promotions with his brother, Arthur, who was one of the founding members of a group of early techno promoters in Winnipeg, 4/4 Productions. More than just an outlet to throw parties, Kace's interest in developing the whole experience for electronic music lovers would continue to be set in motion. While he had been involved in throwing small scale warehouse parties before moving to Montreal in 2007, this would mark the start of Kace not only focusing on DJing and all things techno, but helping to build the 3rd wave of Winnipeg's constantly expanding electronic music scene.

While Dualbeat is on hiatus until the right opportunity and space comes along, Kace has continued to promote intimate shows with Redworm under the Sanctuary brand. Connecting the dots between Winnipeg's past and its future, Sanctuary has been a beacon for the house and techno community. It's these nights where Kace's immaculately curated take on tech-house and late night techno really gets honed, building up the mood of the night without making any sacrifices for the crowd.

Kace's dexterity to effortlessly shift between hard-hitting peak hour sets or warming up the room can't be ignored. Whether he is skillfully opening for acts like Noah Pred at the Manitoba Electronic Music Exhibition (MEME), Ghosts on Tape at the re-opening of the historical Royal Albert Arms, Darin Epsilon and Tim Penner for Winnipeg’s Institution Crew, contributing a tenacious mix to the T_204 podcast series or keeping the night going into the wee hours at after-hours spots like Underground Revival, Kace's ability to understand not only what a crowd wants, but what they need is rare in today's saturated DJ culture.
