The record came together when Pearl Gates was on tour in Europe opening for Masta Ace. Gates and eMC previously worked together on eMC's "The Tonite Show" album on the song "Fly Thoughts". Gates also says ''with "The Ritual" I just wanted to invite the listener into the room to see the progression firsthand, and luckily for me once Ace heard the record he wanted to be apart of it.''

Både Flint, från det hårda och lekfulla Rusty Label, och Just, från det progressiva Madfellas Music, har en gedigen och rik erfarenhet med ett antal tidigare släpp i sin repertoar.

Versmakaren Flint och ordsmeden Just riktar strålkastaren mot sin skapelse. 
I helgen släppte de sin första EP tillsammans, ett verk som går under titeln Bröd och Skådespel. 

”Bröd och Skådespel är en anspelning på vår tids ytliga underhållningsformer som distraherar och stundtals avskärmar människor från ifrågasättande och eftertanke”, berättar Just.

Titeln Bröd och Skådespel är ett uttryck från romartiden då romerska imperiet erbjöd underhållning i form av gladiatorspel och något att äta för att hålla folket lugna och nöjda, och på så sätt slippa protester.

Albumet innehåller ärliga berättelser där minnen, frustrationer, drömmar och uppskattning flätas ihop med vemodiga melodier och tunga basgångar direkt från Flints personliga beat arkiv. Den slutgiltiga ljudbilden står ljudmekanikern Milian Decks för.
