Drum & bass stalwarts Black Sun Empire are to follow up a trio of recent EPs from The Upbeats, Neonlight and Pythius with the release of ‘Until The World Ends’ - a five-track, collaborative EP with NZ duo State Of Mind. To be released on January 26th via their genre-defining Blackout imprint, it marks an exciting start to 2015.

Lead track ‘Ego’ immediately sets the tone with growling bass lines and punchy synth-stabs that underpin dark, techy atmospherics and vocal loops.

Second track ‘Until The World Ends’ proves once again both acts’ enduring versatility - kicking off with a bass-heavy dubstep tones complimented by vocal duties from State Of Mind’s fellow New Zealander PNC, before

switching to a manic, intelligently structured groove for the remainder.

‘Bad’ opens with progressive percussion and softly-worked synths that move euphorically to a pounding drum break, whilst fourth track ‘Jack Nicholson’, featuring an imitable sample of the man himself, is a bass-fuelled shockwave of a track. Final track.

‘Moonbox’ closes the EP in true Blackout fashion, with signature frenetic beats and firing drums rounding off proceedings in style.

Black Sun Empire have built a reputation for curating their own brand of dark, neurofunk-inspired drum & bass over the past 12 months and this collaboration with long term accomplices State Of Mind - whom released their latest album ‘Eat The Rich’ via the label earlier this year - feeds into the hype surrounding Blackout as the label looks ahead to 2015.

Road to Tropical Dreams 2024

Originally appearing on the Palm Pictures label back in 2000, "The 6ixth Session" was my best selling mix CD. It features Konflict's super awesome "The Messiah" which is one of my favorite drum and bass anthems of all time. The amazing graphic design is by Akira Takahashi and showcases 3D modeling of my head from Rene Garcia aka "Hyperform" who went on to do 3D work for the Matrix and Transformers movies. Suffice it to say, I have always been extremely proud of this particular work. It really helped push drum and bass music to a larger audience in North America.

The 6ixth Session

Happy Holidays, everyone! This is one of the things I love about spinning jungle - sometimes you get a recording that's a ton of fun, and decently mixed, on the first try, with no planning beforehand. Big ups to everyone listening, and I can't wait to see what the next 12 months bring for us!

Sully and I Hang Out On Xmas Eve

Most folks know me as "The Rabbi" or Rabbi Eric. I've been involved in the music biz from about the age of 14, when I made my first mix. I've DJ'ed here & also when I was stationed in Germany. I made the transition from the club scene to the RAVE scene in the mid-90's. Early on in that period, a youngster by the name DJ FiXXX (waz up, Jeff?) tagged me with the name Rabbi when he found out that I was studying to become one.... still workin' on dat... I met a bunch of really good folks, promoters and DJ's, which motivated me even more to become a promoter/producer. Later, I met who I thought was the love of my life & got married... too bad she had other plans. ;) Eventually, I got 'high-jacked on the highway' (actually @ the Katy Mills Mall), and the State held me hostage from 8-30-02 until 5-7-12! But, now I'm back on the scene and doing music again. The latest update to this field would be my engagement to tha one known as Havok & our recently born son....a true Junglist from birth! Bless up, y'all!
