Thomas Gram delivers an introspective and daring mix, a sonic journey shaped by 20 years of musical exploration. Moving fluidly between ambient, techno, breakbeat, dubstep, and jungle, the set unfolds like a living collage. Despite its wide scope, it maintains a sense of balance throughout, held together by a delicate blend of organic textures and electronic depth.

Equinox Tapes is a project inspired by the biannual events when the sun crosses the celestial equator, creating days and nights of approximately equal length (~equinox), typically occurring around the 22nd of September and the 20th of March. For my residence at Microwave, I will create an monthly 1 hour mixtape. Each new tape seamlessly transitioning from the previous one in terms of vibe, tempo, feeling, and color. This interconnected series of mixtapes will provide 12 hours of music, guiding listeners through the mystic and dark night into the sunrise, mirroring the concept of day and night being of approximately equal length. The circle is completed, and we return to the beginning, with day and night of approximately equal length.

"The mix is sort of a concept mix. I wanted to do something that is really slow with an organic flow. I also wanted to have a climax to make it feel like a journey — that’s what I like most about these sorts of music :)
So I searched through my collection and decided to go for 89 BPM and took a bunch of 90‘s Downtempo, Ambient, Goa Chill Out and IDM tunes…" ~ JMO.
