I. The Loops

Sometimes I feel a victim inside my own mind.
Sometimes my alibi invents my own lies.
Sometimes my head hides the self that creates myself.

II. The Friend / The Enemy

Sometimes I’m my own best friend,
taking my enemy’s hand.
Sometimes my wants befriend me,
but my needs cast me into my deeds.

III. The Eyes

Sometimes my enterprise generates eyes
that can’t see past my eyes.
Sometimes my thoughts create versions of me
I never meant to be.

IV. The Love

Sometimes I can’t give me
the love I need to see.
Sometimes I can’t create the eye in time,
or the life in mind.

V. The Confusion

Sometimes I can’t get out of my own way.
Sometimes I don’t know which way.
Sometimes I need to be.
Sometimes I need to see.

VI. The Remembering

Sometimes I need to remind me.
Sometimes I need to remember who I am.
Sometimes I don’t know who I am.
Sometimes I’m only what I am—
but I can’t see past who I am.

VII. The Duality

Because the me of the eye is not always
the eye in the me.
I’m a duality inside a head,
coming to a mind to see.

VIII. The Veil

I can’t see past the veil I create.
I can’t see past the mind I feed.
I can’t see past the eye I want to date—
but I have to learn how to.
