but the car door is a jar
and I am too soon bottled up inside
college looms in the dark shadows
of tommorrow..... and tomorrow has arrived
tears trickle as I realize
you can't go back
it's all a headlong rush onward as
the school disappears
behind some trees
along with my youth
there goes Mary and Joe
homecoming Queen
coming home at last
Mary's eyes are misty too
a tiny wave of her hand
marks our passing
Mom asks, "What's wrong, dear..
why so quiet?"
and when I do not answer
she gifts me with a melancholy smile
Dad shares a sigh with her
they both have traveled
where I am
this road is old
many footprints lead the way
many more today will follow
some will wander off to war
and then return no more
some will marry and depart
to some other state
where they'll grow old
and never cross my path again
whole classes of people
set adrift
destined to be seniors
one day again
but for now
and for years to come
most of them will be
deleted from my life
my new hood is adult now
my room when I get home
seems small and slightly cramped
the world has shrunk it down
and bids me flee its refuge
tomorrow I can sleep in
and dream of all that I once had
till I awaken and I face
the loss of one life so familiar
that I'll leave behind me
as I head out
on a stranger journey
future bound........

this song is super sweet and fits the drama a lot :)
i managed to cover the whole thing! i feel like it's such a struggle to complete a song, haha is it just me..?
this cover is lacking in many ways but i really hope u guys like it!
