Growing up in Oklahoma, I played jazz gigs and occasionally someone would yell out "FREEBIRD!" out at these shows.  One day, I obliged, and 'jazzed it up' so to speak.  This is my response to anyone requesting "Sandstorm."  So here is my take on an iconic 4 note melody with a jazzy twist.  Big thanks to Jason and the OK Jazz Hall of Fame for letting me use their beautiful piano and stage on such short notice.  I also want to thank my friends, Spencer Cole for filming and Nick Gregoris for helping out with the editing.

I’m so incredibly stoked to be able to share this collaboration with y’all!  I discovered Resh’s channel almost a year ago when he used my “Frame of Mind” (Piano Cover) in his epic RHG: Umbrella V FLLFFL animation.  I admired his work from afar and then one day, decided to reach out to him.  I had a concept for a ‘music video’ using one of my original tracks, but I needed his help to help me realize the vision.  So we began working together on the video, and what he was able to develop was worlds better than I could ever have imagined. I wrote this tune a few years ago and recently rediscovered it from an old demo. After I heard the demo, I decided that I needed to finish this song, so I dug through my hard drive(s) looking for the session.  But I couldn't find the full session, just a super early, unfinished version.  

So, after about 10 minutes of cursing and yelling around my house, I decided to start completely fresh. And I’m really glad that I did decide to remake it.  I have learned waayyy more about production now, than when I originally composed the tune, so I think that this version turned out even better than before!

Instead of formal sheet music, I have made a leadsheet/chart, and transcribed out my solo so that you can play it if you like.  ;D

This past month I moved across the country from Chicago to LA.  For my whole life I have wanted to live in California and I have been working toward this move for the past 5+ years. Subtact - Restart (Jonah Wei-Haas Piano Cover)

My *re-interpretation of “Trancendance”, by guitarist and Candyrat Recording Artist, Daniel Voth.   
This is one of three original, ‘re-interpretations’ or very non-traditional remixes that were released tomorrow on Candyrat Records.  

*Re-interpreting any musician’s music can be controversial, which is why I wanted to clarify.  In a traditional remix, it is generally expected to have a balance between material from the original track and the new material.  These remixes ended up containing way more new material than content from the original track; hence I felt it wasn't appropriate to call this work a remix.
