Roskilde '15 - Klub Rolig

This morning I learned that my great uncle Houshang died last week in Iran. As a young man Houshang worked for the oil refineries in Abadan; in later life he moved to Exeter in England, where he was a shopkeeper, a chess player, and - to my brother and I - a magician. He was an old-fashioned Iranian gentleman, and a perfect uncle. Old age took away his memory, but he'll not be forgotten.

"I was introduced to Abi at the end of 2010 through a mutual friend - Johnny Dub who co-runs the excellent Manchester night hoya:hoya. Instantly I was blown away by her voice.
I sent her some stuff that was on a slightly different tip to my usual beats. She dug it, sent it back, I worked on it some more - Tobyjug was born and i'm glad to say it has been the start of a long working relationship and friendship.
 
We worked together a lot last year on her solo material and the year culminated in Abi flying to Berlin to work with Benjamin Damage and I on our recent album They!Live.

Jykkälä is a mix of electronic sounds spliced with organic instruments, which has been described by some as Sigur Ros meets Boards of Canada.
Praised by Alan Raw of BBC Radio Humberside, Tom Robinson of BBC 6Music and both the MusicVsTheWorld and EclecticPop music blogs. Jykkälä currently has released three EPs to date, ‘Disappearers’, ‘SangeForElskere’ and 'Einnmedmér' which are all available via Bandcamp. A forthcoming album ‘We Came For Tomorrow’ is slated for release in late Autumn 2014.”
