While defending their village, the Lindwyrm family suffers a devastating loss that alters the trajectory of their lives forever, particularly for eldest son Selwyn. After committing his first kill in an unexpected battle, Selwyn grapples with the weight of his actions when his father, Anduwyn, is fatally wounded protecting him. Overwhelmed by grief and guilt, Selwyn, feeling alone, chooses to run away from the village, undergoing a transformative journey. Encountering his adopted uncle Gorthak, after a long night of running through a storm, Selwyn finds guidance and understanding. Ultimately, he learns the value of family, confronting inner demons, and embracing acceptance amidst profound loss.
